'Grey's Anatomy' Emmy Winner Ties the Knot!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

"Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl married long-time love Josh Kelley at a Sunday (Dec. 23) ceremony in Utah.

According to People, the nuptials took place at a private tent at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, as snow fell outside.

Officiated by Tom Goldsmith, a Unitarian minister, the ceremony lasted 30 minutes and featured white flowers, white candles and bridesmaids bedecked in red. Among the familiar faces in attendance were Heigl's small-screen co-stars Sandra Oh and T.R. Knight, as well as former "Grey's" co-star Kate Walsh. The bride and groom wrote their own vows, while Heigl walked down the aisle to a song written by her hubby.

The happy couple met back in 2005 when Heigl appeared in the video for Kelley's "Only You."

The couple has a knack for celebrating personal milestones on the cusp of professional achievements. They announced their engagement in the summer of 2006, just weeks before the release of Kelley's third album, "Just Say the Word." The wedding, in turn, is mere weeks ahead of the release of Heigl's romantic-comedy "27 Dresses."

'Lost' Vet Michelle Rodriguez Checks into Jail!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

Michelle Rodriguez reported to jail on Sunday (Dec. 23), checking into the same facility that formerly (and temporarily) housed Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan.

The former "Lost" co-star arrived at the Lynwood, California prison on Sunday afternoon to begin serving a six-month sentence for violating probation in a DUI case.

Rodriguez was sentenced in October after "admitted violating her probation by failing to provide proof of completion of her community service and for consuming alcohol three times while wearing an alcohol-monitoring device," according to the L.A. City Attorney's office. At the time, Superior Court Judge Davian L. Mitchell ruled that Rodriguez would have to complete her full allotted sentence, which is more than her jail's other A-list talent can claim.

That being said, People notes that Rodriguez can still get out early for good behavior.

This is Rodriguez's second visit to the Lynwood Jail, where she served four hours and 20 minutes of a two-month sentence for a prior probation violation stemming from a much publicized 2005 arrest in Hawaii. She also served two days in a Honolulu jail stemming from that arrest. The "Girlfight" and "Bloodrayne" star had previously been placed on three years probation after pleading no contest in another DUI and driving with a suspended license.

Heroes: Milo Interview!

Post by: Sal

Source: Mr. Media & SpoilerTV

ANDELMAN: We have to talk about “Heroes,” of course, don’t we? We can’t take live calls today, so I did the next best thing, and I solicited questions from friends of mine and fans of yours.

VENTIMIGLIA: Alright.

ANDELMAN: So these are coming from a few places here. Let’s start with this question from DigDog: “Did the writers’ strike hobble the show by forcing producers to end any of the story lines prematurely?”

VENTIMIGLIA: I don’t think it hobbled us so much as it cut us short. The writers’ strike was one of those unfortunate things that stops production. Beyond the strike, you can’t write anything new. You can only produce what’s been written. We basically ran out of material. I think the producers, it was their intent to give some kind of a wrap-up to what became a very short season just so that people weren’t left with too many questions. In my opinion, it was a good thing to do to, hopefully, tie up a couple loose ends, and we leave people wanting a little bit more.

ANDELMAN: This second season got hit by some criticism early on that it was taking too long to get to the meat. And then it seemed like those last couple weeks, the critics and the fans may have come around a little bit.

VENTIMIGLIA: Yeah, they did. We had some problems early on, still working out problems toward the end, but I know the show started to get back to that same feeling, that same sentiment that we all worked very hard for. But it’s one of those things. You just gotta understand that a season is long. You’re making usually 24 episodes, so I think when there’s a little bit of a delay, there’s not that instant, rewarding scene or moment or episode, and people get impatient. So it’s finding that balance between giving and getting.

ANDELMAN/Mr. MEDIA: It must be hard for both the writers and the actors to be on a show where the expectations are so high. You almost reach a point where, no matter what you do, you’re going to let people down. Is that the case?

MILO VENTIMIGLIA: Yeah. You’re damned if you do, you’re damned if you don’t. You just gotta know that, ultimately, the work that you’re doing, the work that you’re putting in, it’s your best efforts, and it’s everybody’s best effort. That being said, though, all those best efforts have to come together in sync. Otherwise, the show doesn’t have a heart.

ANDELMAN: Before the writers’ strike set in, how much did you know of plot lines for your character going in? And how much do you think that may change going forward with the delay in getting back into production?

VENTIMIGLIA: I knew quite a bit. I knew where we were headed, but I also had the luxury of not really having to follow too closely because Peter had amnesia. I went in for a meeting with Tim Kring before we started filming, and he said, “Peter can’t remember anything.” I said, “Okay, great. Let me know as I need to know stuff.” I just kind of waited around. Usually, you’re pretty eager to know where you’re headed. I had no idea where Peter was going to go, and it didn’t really matter at that point. Where we’re going to be going after, again, that’s all up in the air. I think the production team was taking into consideration the criticism we got and hopefully, wanting to get back on track to the same feel we had the first season. So I think things are going to switch up a little bit.

ANDELMAN: Is there any question whether you’ll stay with the show? Eric, who wrote in, said that he had heard rumors that you didn’t necessarily want to continue.

VENTIMIGLIA: Who said that?

ANDELMAN: Eric. He’s one of the people who sent in some questions for you.

VENTIMIGLIA: Really? I’m a real guy, and I also have a contract that I hope to honor. So I’ll be on the show, I think, as long as they would have me and as long as I’m obligated to it and put my best work forward, and I’ll leave everything else up to time. I’ve got other ambitions, but when it comes to the show, and when we’re in production, that’s what I’m doing.

ANDELMAN: Dr. Blogstein, who has a show on BlogTalkRadio, wanted to know this: “Are there considerations in taking a few episodes this coming season or next to go deeper into the back story and focus on your character’s parents as well as George Takei’s character and some of the older heroes?”

VENTIMIGLIA: I think that was our intent -- to understand a little bit more. That’s always been the question. People want to know how did these abilities come about? The way the shows been going -- the storyline -- it seems that there was a greater mystery as to why these people, how these people have these abilities. Again, that’s a lot up to the writers about what they’re looking to explore. And, of course, the actors, we can give our two cents in what we’d like to see, what we’d like to get into, but it’s ultimately up to the writers.

ANDELMAN: Oh. Okay. Sharon’s question is, “If you’re not dating Hayden Panettiere, who are you dating?”

VENTIMIGLIA: It’s one of those funny questions that…

ANDELMAN: I’m glad I didn’t ask.

VENTIMIGLIA: I think when you’re young and in this industry, and you work as much as I do, you try to spend time with people that want to spend time with you. That’s about all you can do.

ANDELMAN: Alright. Last question: Mimi asks, “What powers would you want in real life?”

VENTIMIGLIA: I think in a world where there are people with abilities, I’d take my character’s. He’s a sponge. He can soak up anything. But if I just had any ability, I’d want to be able to teleport. I could go have coffee in Paris if I wanted to and lunch in Italy, then be right back at home in the flash of an eye.

FOX Sets 'Idol' Schedule Through the Top 12!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

FOX has set out a detailed schedule for the upcoming seventh season of "American Idol," letting even fair-weather fans know when they should start tuning in.

Absolute "Idol" completists know that TV's No. 1 show in most key measures returns with a two-night, four-hour event on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Wednesday, Jan. 16.

The early audition episodes, culled from cattle-calls in San Diego, Dallas, Omaha, Atlanta, Charleston, Miami and Philadelphia, will continue through one-hour episodes on Jan. 22, 23, 29 and 30, as well as Feb. 5 and 6.

That's eight episodes or 10 hours of auditions. Good times

Some viewers, though, aren't partial to the geek show aspect of the "Idol" auditions, preferring to wait until at least some of the cream has risen to the top. Those pickier viewers should know that Tuesday, Feb. 12 will be the first episode of the Hollywood Round, beginning with a two-hour episode. A second one-hour Hollywood episode will air the following night, culminating in the reveal of the Top 24.

For even pickier "Idol" fans, then, the Top 12 males and Top 12 females will perform in two-hour episodes on Tuesday, Feb. 19 and Wednesday, Feb. 20, followed by the season's first round of fan voting, leading to the elimination two men and two women on Feb. 21.

Tuesday will continue to be male night, as the Top 10 males sing on Feb. 26 (8:00-9:30 p.m. ET) and the Top 8 do battle on March 4 (8-9 p.m.). And the women will claim Wednesdays, with the Top 10 going on Feb. 27 (8:00-9:30 p.m. ET) and March 5 (9-10 p.m.). Eliminations will be Thursdays at 8 p.m., culminating in the reveal of the season's Top 12 on March 6.

That means, for those of you who don't like to start tuning in until the Top 12 is set, that the first performances by the Top 12 will air over two-hours on Tuesday, March 11. The season's first single elimination will be the follow night.

Are you able to contain your enthusiasm and excitement for that long?

Zach Braff Is FOX's 'Saint'!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

FOX is going into business with "Scrubs" star Zach Braff and "The Office" co-star David Denman on a new drama pilot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Braff is in negotiations to direct and executive produce "Saint of Circumstance." It seems likely that Zach Braff's deal will go forward, since the pilot was written by his brother Adam, who will also executive produce.

Denman will play Wayne, a man going through a midlife crisis, leaving a dead-end job to become a night shift paramedic.

Set up at ABC Studios, "Saint of Circumstance" isn't on the fastest track to production. It's waiting on both the end of the writers strike and Zach Braff's completion of his acting duties on the seventh and final season of "Scrubs."

Braff has been a semi-regular director on "Scrubs" in recent seasons, helming six episodes. He also directed the hit film "Garden State." The Brothers Braff adapted "Andrew Henry's Meadow" for 20th Century Fox.

Denman is best known as Pam's former fiance Roy on NBC's "The Office." He's done stints on "Grey's Anatomy" and "K-Ville" this season, as well as the upcoming features "Fanboys" and "Shutter."

'Dead Zone,' '4400' Get the Ax!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

The other shoe has dropped for two of USA Network's longer-running series, "The Dead Zone" and "The 4400."

Rumors about the fate of the sci-fi series had been floating for some time, and USA made it official this week. The cancellation of the two shows will make room for new series, including the crime drama "In Plain Sight," with Mary McCormack, and the dramedy "To Love & Die," starring Shiri Appleby and Tim Matheson.

"We wish we could keep all our great shows alive forever," USA original programming chief Jeff Wachtel tells The Hollywood Reporter. "But we feel we need to give some of our new shows a platform to grow, and it's with great sadness that we say goodbye to two shows that had a great run and helped create the resurgence of original programming on our network and on all of cable."

"The Dead Zone," based on the Stephen King novel about a man (Anthony Michael Hall) who can see people's futures when he touches them, premiered in 2002 to a then-record audience of 6.4 million viewers. It ran for six seasons.

"The 4400" came along in 2004 and broke that record, drawing 7.4 million viewers to its premiere (a figure since surpassed on ad-supported cable by TNT's "The Closer"). The tale of a group of abductees who return to earth with special abilities ran for four seasons.

Creator Scott Peters posted news about the cancellation on a USA message board, thanking fans for making the show a success. "We've had a great time bringing you this story and submersing you in the lives of all these incredible characters," he writes. "I wish we could go on forever, but the party has come to an end."

'Daily Show,' 'Colbert Report' Returning
!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are joining the rush of late night funnymen returning to are in the new year.

Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" are the latest late night shows to announce that they'll return to air in January, albeit without their striking writing staffs.

"'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' and 'The Colbert Report' will resume production on January 7 with both shows returning to air that night without their respective writing staffs," a Comedy Central press release explains. "The January 7 return follows a scheduled two-week, end-of-year hiatus that was previously built into the shows' production calendars. We continue to hold out hope for a swift resolution to the current stalemate that will enable the shows to be complete again."

While both shows will be returning to production on Jan. 7, nobody seems to know what they're going to do to fill their half-hour time slot. Both shows feature opening monologues which, for example, probably won't be up to WGA striking standards even if both Colbert and Stewart -- both Emmy-winning WGA members -- ad-lib their regular political observations. Interview segments are far more likely to be considered kosher.

"We would like to return to work with our writers," Stewart and Colbert said in a joint statement. "If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence"

Comedy Central confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that "Daily Show" correspondents, including John Oliver and Samantha Bee, are likely to return to work in some capacity. "The Daily Show" would seem to have an advantage over "The Colbert Report" in that Colbert's persona is more clearly scripted and is central to more recurring segments.

The Comedy Central duo won't be the only late night shows navigating this uncertain landscape in the new year. Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel will all be returning without their writers in early January. CBS' David Letterman and Craig Ferguson will do the same unless Letterman's independent Worldwide Pants banner reaches an interim agreement with the WGA.

'Celeb Apprentice' Moves Again!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

Remember all that stuff about NBC moving the premiere of "The Celebrity Apprentice" back a week? Yeah, never mind.

Late Thursday, the network decided to move the show's debut back to Thursday, Jan. 3. Earlier this week, NBC had moved the premiere to Jan. 10.

All that, however, was before ABC decided to move its last original episode of "Grey's Anatomy" to Jan. 10. The network is instead going with an all-repeat lineup on the 3rd and holding an original "Ugly Betty" for the next week. ABC also moved the premiere of its drama "Cashmere Mafia" from Jan. 3 to Sunday, Jan. 6, where it will follow the last pre-strike episode of "Desperate Housewives."

The upshot is that "Celeb Apprentice" will go back where it started on Jan. 3, staying out of the way of the highly rated "Grey's." It will still have to face off against FOX's broadcast of the Orange Bowl and may have to contend with interruptions for news reports from the Iowa caucuses. NBC News says it will provide updates on the voting with "special reports throughout primetime."

NBC will sandwich the "Apprentice" premiere between an episode of "Deal or No Deal" and an original "ER."

Adopted Son Gives Sheryl Something to Crow About!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

For Sheryl Crow, there's a big difference to her third time on a yearly special about adoption.

She's now an adoptive parent herself.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is readying for her first Christmas with 7-month-old Wyatt and also performing on the "9th Annual A Home for the Holidays" Friday, Dec. 21, on CBS. Initiated by the late Wendy's restaurant founder Dave Thomas -- who was an adoptee -- and the Children's Action Network, the program offers true stories of youngsters and the families who took them in.

Fergie, Reba McEntire, James Blunt and Carole King also are scheduled to sing during the hour. Another returnee to the show, Rene Russo, is among the talents introducing the segments; George Lopez and "NUMB3RS" co-star David Krumholtz participate as well.

"They've asked us for three songs each," Crow says of herself and the special's other music stars. "We send them the ones we'd like to do, and they approve them or not. Recently, I did a concert for Alicia Keys' foundation, which is about saving AIDS-afflicted children by getting medication to them; at the piano, we did an acoustic version of a song called 'I Shall Believe,' and I think I might do that.

"I love this show," Crow says. "It's one of the most inspiring things. When there's so much depressing information and imagery, it's just nice to be part of something that is doing such amazing work in getting kids placed in homes."

The outlook is more personal than ever for Crow, having adopted her son in May. "Just knowing how deeply you can love a child, even if you didn't actually give birth yourself, the feeling cannot be any different to me. I'm such a softie when it comes to this stuff anyway, knowing how much a family means to the development and growth of a child, it's an honor for me to have an impact on the life of my own adopted boy."

With her societal concern also mirrored by her work for environmental causes, Crow reasons, "Everything right now is so interconnected. I try to narrow down my philanthropic work so that it has some sort of impact, but when it comes to children, it's difficult to say 'no' when there's someplace you can actually be of some service."

On the professional front, the artist behind such hits as "All I Wanna Do," "Strong Enough" and "Soak Up the Sun" is bracing for a big start to 2008. Crow's album "Detours" is set for release Feb. 5, and its songs reflect recent milestones in her life, from her breast-cancer crisis in 2006 to the adoption.

Crow calls it "a really honest and truthful record. There's a song called 'Lullaby for Wyatt,' and you can hear him chewing at the end of it. That's in the take we used, anyway. In the one we didn't use, which we did after that, he's screaming."

Touring will be a big part of promoting "Detours," a prospect Crow finds "daunting It's a lot bigger deal than it used to be. Now it requires a baby crib, someone to help me with him and less sleep. I'm looking forward to it, though. The music's good, and it's been a long time since we've played new music, so it's very exciting."

So is Crow's anticipation of her first Christmas as an adoptive mom. "I'm from a big family, and we're very, very close," she says, "so I'd imagine it's just going to be more and more fun every year."
