'Anarchy' in the USA for FX!

FX is going for a ride.

The cable network has ordered a drama series called "Sons of Anarchy," which centers on an outlaw biker club. The show, created by "The Shield" veteran Kurt Sutter, is scheduled to premiere in the fall.

The show stars Charlie Hunnam ("Children of Men," "Undeclared") as Jax Teller, a member of the titular club who loves its brotherhood but is concerned about the Sons' illegal activities. Katey Sagal ("Married ... with Children," "Futurama") also stars as Jax's mom, who's married to the club's president. Drea de Matteo ("The Sopranos") and Maggie Siff ("Mad Men") are also in the cast.

As a backdrop, the show will also examine the club's efforts to protect its home of Charming, Calif., from encroaching suburbanization.

Producers Art ("Fight Club," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High") and John Linson ("Lords of Dogtown") brought the idea to FX and will executive produce "Sons of Anarchy" with Sutter, who has been with "The Shield" since its first season, and James Parriott.

"We thank Art and John Linson for coming to FX with a great, untapped arena for a drama series," FX chief John Landgraf says. "Kurt Sutter took their notion and created a fiercely entertaining and authentic series. We think our viewers will welcome the Sons of Anarchy into their lives as they say farewell to 'The Shield' during its last great season."

"Sons of Anarchy" is one of two shows about bikers in the works. HBO is developing a show called "1%" from "The Player" writer Michael Tolkin.

Take Care,

Sal
