CBS Hires an Unlikely 'Hour' Bodyguard!

Marley Shelton will take the female lead opposite Rufus Sewell in CBS' drama pilot "Eleventh Hour," from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

"Eleventh Hour" is based on a British limited series and will star Sewell as a professor-turned-government advisor who travels the country investigating abuses of science. He's accompanied by a feisty female bodyguard, to be played by Shelton, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the original British production, the lead roles were played by Patrick Stewart and Ashley Jensen.

Mick Davis wrote the American version of "The Eleventh Hour," which will be directed by Danny Cannon, the helmer behind the pilot of Bruckheimer's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

Shelton was most recently seen in both the "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror" segments of the Rodriguez-Tarantino "Grindhouse." Her other credits include "Sin City," "Sugar and Spice" and "Warriors of Virtue."

Shelton joins CBS' 'Hour'!

Marley Shelton has been tapped as the female lead opposite Rufus Sewell in Jerry Bruckheimer's new CBS drama "Eleventh Hour."

The project, based on the limited British sci-fi series, centers on Jacob Hood (Sewell), a special science adviser to the government who, with his feisty female bodyguard Rachel (Shelton) in tow, saves people from the worst abuses of science.

In the original series, the roles were played by Patrick Stewart and "Ugly Betty's" Ashley Jensen.

The CBS version, which is set in the U.S., was penned by Mick Davis and will be directed by Danny Cannon.

Davis, Cannon, Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and a Granada executive are executive producing for Jerry Bruckheimer TV, Granada International Media and Warner Bros. TV.


Shelton most recently starred in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse." The actress, repped by Endevor and Untitled Entertainment, next appears in the indie "Our Lady of Victory."

In other casting news, CBS confirmed on Monday that Britney Spears will guest star on an upcoming episode of the comedy "How I Met Your Mother."

Rufus Sewell has landed the lead in the CBS drama pilot "Eleventh Hour," from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

"Eleventh Hour" is based on a British limited series and will star Sewell as a professor-turned-government advisor who travels the country investigating abuses of science. He's accompanied by a feisty female bodyguard.

Patrick Stewart played the male lead in the original British format, with Ashley Jensen as the bodyguard.

The action has been transplanted to the United States in Mick Davis' pilot adaptation, which will be directed by Danny Cannon, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Cannon directed the pilot for the Bruckheimer-produced "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," helping establish the look for one of TV's most popular shows.

Sewell's credits include diverse turns in features like "Dark City," "Cold Comfort Farm" and "The Illusionist." He'll be seen this spring in HBO's "John Adams" project as Alexander Hamilton.
