Miley Cyrus Apologizes for Semi-Topless Photo!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

Miley Cyrus hasn't been having a lot of luck with photos lately.

Last week, playfully provocative photos of her hit the Internet, and now she's worried about pictures that famed photographer Annie Liebovitz took of her for an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair.

"My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy," Cyrus tells People. "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

In one photo, the "Hannah Montana" star appears to be nude with a sheet wrapped around her chest. Although Cyrus' family was on set for the photo shoot, they claim they left just before this last, more provocative shot was taken.

"Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines," says the Disney Channel, which broadcasts "Hannah Montana," in a statement.

Beth Kseniak, a spokesperson for both Vanity Fair and Leibovitz, counters: "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley."

The magazine also includes an interview with Cyrus and her father, country star and actor Billy Ray Cyrus.

Cyrus also addressed the amateur photos that she and her friends took that circulated the 'net last week. In them, she was seen showing off her midriff, draped over the lap of her then-boyfriend and exposing a bright green bra.

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots," the 15-year-old acknowledges. "I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone.

"Most of all," she adds, "I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life's journey."

Miley Cyrus to Write Memoirs!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

Miley Cyrus will soon influence young minds with the written word, not just her lyrics.

The "Hannah Montana" star has signed a seven-figure book deal with Disney Book Group.

The book will describe the teen's road to stardom, family stories, her inner circle of friends and the relationship with her mother Leticia as well as never-before-seen photos.

"I am so excited to let fans in on how important my relationship with my family is to me," Cyrus said. "I hope to motivate mothers and daughters to build lifetimes of memories together, and inspire kids around the world to live their dreams."

The book is scheduled for publication in spring 2009, around the same time as the "Hannah Montana" movie hits theaters.

Hannah Montana's Dad Hosts 'Nashville Star'!

Post by: Sal

Source: Zap2It

"Nashville Star" has burned through hosts the way Spinal Tap burned through drummers, and the show has tapped yet another new frontman.

Billy Ray Cyrus -- singer, "Dancing with the Stars" contestant and father of "Hannah Montana" -- will become the show's fifth new host in six seasons this summer. "Nashville Star" is also moving from the USA Network to NBC.

Cyrus announced he's joining the show, an "American Idol"-ish competition for aspiring country artists, during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" Wednesday.

"This year it is all about the dream, about the music, about persistence and never giving up faith and putting the music first," Cyrus told Jay Leno, cryptically adding, "You know I've been to the fair and I've seen the bear, and I am really excited."

Daughter Miley Cyrus, who was appearing with her dad on the show, offered no help as to the last comment.

"That is sooo embarrassing. I don't know what that means -- I have no idea," she said as Leno looked to her for assistance. "He does that a lot."

Cyrus takes over hosting duties from singers Jewel and Cowboy Troy, who co-hosted last season. Troy also co-hosted season four with Wynonna Judd; prior to that, Nancy O'Dell (seasons one and two) and LeAnn Rimes (three) served as host. His "Nashville Star" gig will also conveniently coincide with the scheduled release of his next album.

Mega Miley: 'Hannah Montana' Goes 3-D

Post by: Sal

Don't worry if you can't get tickets to to the current Hannah Montana tour, because Miley Cyrus' alter ego will be coming to the biggest of screens next spring.

A 3-D film culled from Cyrus' upcoming Cyrus' Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour will show in theaters in the United States and Canada from Feb. 1-7, 2008. The film will open later in the spring across the rest of the world.

In the tour, which kicks off tonight (Oct. 18) in St. Louis, Cyrus performs both as herself and as her television character, following up on the bestselling CD, "Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus," which premiered in July. Kenny Ortega ("High School Musical") created and directed the stage show.

"Miley is one of the most exciting and talented performers of her generation and watching her on the concert stage is a genuine thrill," says Walt Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook in a statement. "As soon as she committed to the Best of Both Worlds tour last winter, we wanted to find some special way to let all of her fans share the excitement and fun of this live event, and filming the concert in 3D seemed like an ideal way to do that. This is going to be an exciting 3D motion picture event experience for everyone who loves 'Hannah Montana.'"

No matter how expensive tickets for a 3-D movie may still be, it's still cheaper than seeing the live show. Media reports have recently suggested that ticket brokers and scalpers somehow ended up with a disproportionate number of tickets for the upcoming tour and have been asking for hundreds and even thousand dollars for those precious seats.

The Cyrus/Montana film will be the second released by Disney in its digital 3-D format, following "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas," which took in $8.7 million last fall and will be rereleased on Friday.

'Hannah Montana' Outsells Kelly Clarkson

Post by: Sal

The original "American Idol" was unable to beat another prepackaged pop star on the Billboard charts.

Miley Cyrus and her two-disk "Hannah Montana 2/ Meet Miley Cyrus" album toped the Billboard 200 for the week, beating out Kelly Clarkson's "My December."

According to preliminary estimates, Cyrus' CD moved an impressive 326,000 units in its first weekend, bettering the 291,000 in sales for Clarkson's release.

The Cyrus album operates both as a sequel to the first "Hannah Montana" soundtrack, which moved 281,000 units last October, as well as the solo studio debut for Billy Ray Cyrus' 14-year-old daughter. The two discs contain 20 songs, half of which come from Cyrus' smash Disney Channel series.

The returns for Clarkson's new album were quite respectable given the waves of poor publicity that preceded its release. "My December" managed to top the first-week sales for Clarkson's smash "Breakaway" album despite early reports that RCA execs didn't like the material, as well as the cancellation of her summer tour.

Last week's champ, Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway," fell to third with sales of 125,000 albums. The White Stripes' "Icky Thump" was fourth with sales of 88,000.
