TV Hot Spot: King Of Queens

King Of Queens Episode 5 (Season 9): Ruff Goin'

Review by: Sal

Hey everyone! My name is Sal as most of you know and I am bringing up a new review for the day. Now I just watched the latest episode to this series, and it is actually their mid-season finale. Now this series began late, only in december, and sadly is taking a break for 2 weeks until the 3rd of January 2007. So as I watched the last episode for the year 2006, I looked at it carefully and decided to see what makes the show tick. And it is basically added on from the good writing, and great acting skills the actors & actress obtain. This episode was a good one as well, though not as funny as the previous 4, this episode still managed to make me laugh. Doug & Carrie are probably the funniest couple on TV at the moment, and I wouldn't argue with that.

So for this latest episode we can see that the show scored a 5.5/9, which basically means that it brought it around 8.3 Million Viewers. This number is down from last week, but CBS (the network) can't blame the series due to it airing so close to the new year, and so close to christmas day. Most series are on repeats and the show still managed to score above the 8 million mark which is good. Starting off at 10 is great for the series and I think that the 2 week hiatus is a good idea, so that the series could start again when other shows are back on so that the numbers would jump up again.

Ok, now for the review of the episode. I am so glad Carrie's father is back in the series. Now from the first three episodes of the season we didn't see him at all, and then the writers decided to push him back in and actually give him a storyline for the past 2 episodes. In this episode we saw him helping Danny with his gambeling problems, only to find himself falling to old habits and gambeling as well. This little journey doesn't end well and sees him losing and giving away some of Carrie's & Doug's belongings.

Now for the hilarious couple. This episode takes them on a weird journey with the neighbours. We see a weird addition to the cast, who by the way isn't human. It's a dog. Doug wants to fit in with the rest of the neighbours and then all of a sudden returns home with a dog with him. Carrie doesn't like it one bit, but when the both of them notice that their neighbours are treating them better only because they took a dog and gave him a shelter, they both quickly change their minds and decide to keep him.

After a long week of trying to take care of the dog, Doug slowly loses interest and instead of teaching the dog how to behave Doug teaches the dog how to act like him. Little by little, the dog soon becomes lazy, and eats, and behaves badly. Carrie notices this and throughout the episode Doug and Carrie try and return the dog. The way the writers put this in was funny. It was not a complicated episode and was simply something that could happen to any couples everyday lives. It was funny, it was short, and it was an amusing episode to watch.

So I guess that is all from me now. I have posted two new news bulletins as well as the latest ratings for yesterday. This is my last review for the day and hopefully by tomorrow I shall post up two new reviews for the mid-season finales of "Til Death" and "The O.C.". Thank you all for reading, and comments will be appreciated.

P.S. Oh and if any of you guys noticed. In the episode, Doug comments on the block party his neighbours are having and states that the 'husband that killed his wife' was there. I think that was a hilarious line and reminded me of the series "Desperate Housewives". You think the writers put that in on purpose?! Its just a theory....

Take Care
