TV Hot Spot: Big Day
Big Day 1x06 to 1x09: Alice Can't Dance, BoobZilla, War With The Neighbours and The Unstable Minister
Review by: Sal & Nas
Nas: Hey!!! Coming to you live from California (Well just me, not Sal)! Hope you all are doing great and even though I am just a 'Recap' host, Sal contacted me and asked if I would like to take part in this review for an ABC series. So I guess I am going to start by giving a general view first, of ABC. The network has been struggling this year with some of its shows. Just last week it cancelled 3 of its shows in a row. It looks like with comedies, ABC is struggling and should just go back and do more simple things, like "8 Simple Rules". That was good! Don't get me wrong, this show is good too, its just that the ratings are not helping it at all...
Sal: Hi Nas. Hope things are working out good for you and that your enjoying your holiday so far. Thanks for the introduction, and just to point out that this show is struggling in the ratings. The latest episodes managed to pull in around 5.0 Million Viewers. It is slightly increasing over the past few weeks, but not fast enough. I honestly think that ABC is going to pull the plug with this show after it airs its 13th episode because as of now ABC didn't order any more episodes of the show. Anyway, I guess we can start of the review shall we...
Nas: Yup we can. So for these episodes, I am now used to time moving by so slowly. These 4 episodes just showed us a couple of hours of the day of the wedding. And for the first time I didn't notice how slow the time was, it accepted the fact that all these episodes were on one day (lol). The writers manage to make it work, and I believe that this show has an awesome cast. Many of them which I used to love watching in their previous series.
Sal: Although there is a newcomer, Lorna. She is the best out of all of them. Still rated by many as the funniest woman on TV these days, the writers have made this character come alive and to be honest all I can remember of the last 4 episodes were of how funny she was. In episode 6 and 7 Lorna gets fired and then re-hired. She stood up for herself, and got punished in return. The way the writers make out this character and the actress herself is amazing. I think she was made for the role (lol).
Nas: Oh yah Lorna! She is awesome. But the character I like most is Skobo...oh and Rebbeca. These two are so funny. Even though they 'dont like' eachother they still have this chemistry between them. Over a silly one-night stand these two begin to have chemistry and remember its ALL in one day. I still can't believe that the guy is blind until now. His contact lenses were eaten and during the whole season the guy is squinting his eyes which just cracks me up. I wonder how he feels after every shoot.
Sal: (lol) I never thought of that actually, but it must be annoying. Ok so I guess we can just comment on the storyline as a whole. As more things get hectic over at Alice's & Danny's Big Day, we still get to enjoy ourselves by watching each of the characters crack up in their own way. The mother of the bride, Jane, in particular. I would honestly recommend this series to anyone becuase it does make you laugh and to be really honest there are quite a few series out there right now that don't really do the job...
Nas: "Big Day" is a series I look forward to every week simply because of the cast members. They all have chemistry, although some characters I define as 'un-needed' but apparently they will be of greater use in the upcoming episodes and just adds more drama to the day. This is probably the longest day I've ever had (lol) So I guess this is over for the review. The past few episodes we have seen a war with the neighbours over the wedding dress, we have seen the wedding planner fired and re-hired. OH and we saw (well the back of him) Francis! The unknown guy Lorna talks to on her microphone. I swear it reminded me of this Star Wars movie! Thanks for reading everyone...Comments?!
Take Care
