TV Hot Spot: Desperate Housewives
Desperate Housewives 3x13: Come Play Wiz Me
Review by: Sal
Hey guys. Hope everyone is doing alright! So another episode of Desperate Housewives was aired last night, and for those of you who didn't watch it...tsk tsk tsk (lol). Ok so before we go on about the episode I have to say that the writers of this show really deserve a round of applause because they have managed to keep their viewers interested in their stories for almost three years of "Desperate Housewives". I was looking through some of the old pictures of this series and realised how much the characters of this series had changed over the years. Time really does fly by.....OK! So for the ratings of this episode. The 13th episode of the season managed to bring in around 17.1 Million Viewers. Down a bit from last week, and this is mainly because of the football special that was aired by CBS at the same time. Most shows lost their numbers on this night just because of it, so fans of this series shouldn't be worried because "Desperate Housewives" is still on top all over the USA! So lets hit it on with the review!
Lets start off with the other little storylines that have been going around. In this episode we see no sign of Austin, Julie or Danielle. Thats a sad thing because I was actually looking forward to that storyline. I felt so bad for Julie and I actually wanted to see how she would confront Austin. No sign of Edie either, but one little storyline we do see is the Cayla/Lynette one. Obviously she still dislikes her and wont accept her as her new 'mommy'. So what does the little brat go and do? She snitches to Lynettes boss about Lynette going behind his back! This, however, turns around and actually helps Lynette realise something. But before I say anymore, lets have a detailed description of each housewife's experience in this episode!
First housewife, Lynette. Now like I said, in this episode we see Lynette getting ready to go back to work. But with the launch of her husbands new restaurant getting nearer Tom begs Lynette to help him around seeing as his manager just quit on him. Lynette feels sorry for her husband and gets herself out of work and all because of Cayla, gets caught! After a heated talk between Lynette and her boss, Lynette finally decides to leave her job and instead apply for a job at "Scavo's Pizzaria" for the manager's position. I like it that she did that mainly because I feel that this restaurant, even though hard, might be a success and that Lynette and Tom can do it together and it would be so fun watching them! I am literally counting down the days until we see the pizzaria open!
Second housewife, Gabrielle! Now this housewife I am shocked about. Wait...Do we still consider her as a house-WIFE? Oh well...Anyway! I didnt see this coming. Her asking Zach to be her friend, I mean why!? I hope this doesn't turn into what I think its going to turn out like. Some type of stalker storyline. We already heard Zach saying he wants to marry her and buy her nice things. Its just wrong. Gabrielle deserves much better and to be honest I am not sure what message the writers are sending us. I am kind of confused on whether Gabrielle likes Zach, as a friend...or if she wants something more. I mean, it is akward that an 18 year old is hanging out with a gorgeous 20-something year old (I think 29...or 30?!) Not sure about the age, but still! Anyway, looks like we will just have to wait and see whats up with these two.
Third housewife, Susan. This is an emotional episode for Susan. Ian is still jealous of her and Mike and in this episode we find out why! Ian travels alot, and his first wife cheated on him because she was lonely. Of course, Ian, being the nice guy that he is took her back. But here we see him pleading Susan in an indirect way not to do the same. Susan of course finds this out from a friend and finally understands where Ian is coming from. Ian also lost his wife in this episode, sadly she didn't make it. Another surprise, Mike is out of jail! (Thanks to Zach who bailed him out!) And now that Susan finally understands Ian, she asks Mike not to see her again. I guess this is the end of Mike and Susan. In a way, I dont mind this. I like Ian! And I wouldn't mind seeing Susan end up with him. They are obviously in love and Mike lost his chance...
Final housewife, Bree. I always save the best for last, and if you read my previous reviews you will almost-always see Bree as the last one I review. Well in this episode she deserves the spot again. (Notice she is getting a bit chubbier...She's glowing because of her pregnancy). And the way the writers try and hide that is hilarious. Covering her stomach with household objects and making her wear HUGE jackets. Anyway, in this episode Bree wants to go to the police and suspects that Alma killed Monique to frame Orson. Orson then confronts Alma and gets her off his case. And when we (the fans) thought that it was all over....oh boy were we wrong. Later on in the episode, Alma fakes an attempt to commit suicide and drugs Orson. She then 'rapes' him and told him that she had been taking Horomone injections. The chances of her having a baby, is now very real. And with THESE writers, I am going to suspect it IS going to happen. Poor Bree! I honestly wanted her to kill Alma, but then again that would be murder (Damn it!)
Ok...Final thoughts! As usual I loved the episode, and I keep on telling everyone that this is one of my best series ever. Look out for another review coming up about ABC's other series "Brothers & Sisters". Thank you all for reading, and if you have any questions or answers, feel free to comment!
Take Care Everybody! xox
