TV Hot Spot: Dirt
Dirt 1x03: Ovophagy
Review by: Sal & Shai
Sal: Hello everyone! Me and Shai are here coming to you live from Dubai & London at the same time (via MSN lol). So I would like to welcome her to another one of our reviews and to tell everyone that this FX series is amazing! Sadly the series isn't counted with the other big series on primetime, but this show still delivers as the stories continue to get jucier. At first I wasn't sure of whether the show was going to catch my eye, but now I can't wait for their next episode which should air on the 23rd of January. So before I continue to blab on, here is Shai who will start off the review of the episode!
Shai: Hey Sal! Its always a pleasure to be here! Well because the series is on FX is mainly why it doesn't go up against the other big shows. But then again, I like the series and I like where it is at now so I wouldn't want it to change. The other networks are so competative, as we can all see now. A series that starts off with one bad episode will automatically fail, and get the cancellation soon after. But on the brightside, this show is one of FX's most watched shows! It broke a record on its premier so I am sure we are going to see a second season shortly!
Sal: Yup, although I am not sure how many episodes we are going to get this season. Ok so for the episode review. This episode was good but disturbing at the same time, I guess that is what attracts the viewers to these types of series. We have to remember that the basic line of the whole series is that the people who work in the business would do anything for a good story and in this episode we get a bit too much of that. Lucy merges both companies into one, and takes the "Dirt" magazine and the "Now" magazine and turns it into the "Get Your Dirt Now" magazine! With this huge merge Lucy is under pressure to make the first issue a hit!
Shai: Yah! If you remember at the beginning I didn't think she was going to make it. There were so many stories and gossip going around as well as alot of people working to get more stories that I got confused and wasn't sure if they were going to get a good story in time. They literally got their story a day before their issue was published. So it was a close one. And when it is published, the magazines sells off the racks! Lucy does it again, but we do see the determination in her eyes and in her actions when one of her workers doesn't get the story she wanted. Scary!
Sal: Ok so a few things about the episode. We see Prince again in this episode, who isn't very happy about his pictures about to be published. I think his story should be used in their magazines, its so juicy! But in this case, or in this episode, Lucy uses it as blackmail. A smart move for a magazine editor. She tries and gets a good story, but without a firm source and with consequences of many people getting annoyed with her she shuts down on the story. Of course this doesn't mean that she can never use that blackmail again! Always a good thing about blackmail, you always get what you want! (Most of the time)
Shai: We also get an introduction to Lucy's brother Leo. An interior designer, and in this episode he tells Lucy that he just got a big break on designing a top celebrity movie stars house. Lucy asks him if her magazine could do a spread over this new celebrities house and as Leo tries to ask the celebrity, we see something I am sure he didn't expect. The male celebrity moves on to him and kisses him. Oh and Leo is gay by the way, so I don't think he minded that. But what I can see happening here is Lucy using this in her magazine! Juicy!
Sal: Ok so one more couple to talk about. Julia and her hubby Holt. Julia is having a few problems getting back on her feet and goes to drugs for help. Feeling ignored from her boyfriend Holt, she takes the drugs and gets even worse. I don't think these two are going to get stable anytime soon!
Shai: Oh and Don is freaking me out dude! Him and that dead celebrity are like seriously gross! In this episode Don cuts off his own finger JUST to get into the hospital ward to take a photo of a celebrity who is supposed to be on the cover of the new and first issue of "Get Your Dirt Now". He gets the photo and saves the magazine, but the fact that he cut off his own finger just to get the photos....Thats the media business for you!
Sal: Ok guys! I guess that is all from us! Thank you Shai for the review and thank you to all of you who are reading this! Comments will be appreciated!
Take Care xox
