Bravo Says 'Hey Paula!' to Abdul

LOS ANGELES -- Bravo has ordered up an unscripted program about "American Idol" judge and "Straight Up" singer Paula Abdul.

Tentatively titled "Hey Paula!," the series will follow Abdul in one of the busiest phases of her ever-evolving career.

"It's a hectic time in my life right now with several projects in television, film and fashion," says Abdul in a statement. "I'm excited to open the doors to Bravo and have all my fans see the other sides to me, beyond what they see on 'American Idol.'"

Abdul's sixth season on FOX's "American Idol" kicks off early next week. In addition, the Grammy-winning "Opposites Attract" singer has recently committed to produce, choreograph, design and co-star in a live action "Bratz" feature. She's also built a cottage industry around her jewelry collection, which launched last spring to record-breaking QVC sales.

Expect the Bravo series to capture moments from each of those professional facets.

"Bravo has been successful with profiling dynamic, creative personalities that quicken the pulse of pop culture," says Bravo President Lauren Zalaznick. "Paula's career epitomizes the frenzy of Hollywood as it relates to television, music, dance and style. Viewers will get an intimate glimpse at the real woman behind the headlines."

The cable network's plan is to have "Hey Paula!" on air by later this year.
