Monday 1st Jan. Ratings: FOX Throws New Year's Fiesta

FOX's first-ever BCS bowl telecast delivered a New Year's Day ratings win, but the matchup didn't draw overwhelming numbers.
FOX averaged a 7.5 rating/12 share for the night Monday, holding off CBS, 6.5/10, for the top spot. ABC finished third at 5.8/9. NBC came in fourth with a 3.3/5, and The CW trailed at 1.6/2.
The adults 18-49 demographic also went to FOX, which scored a 4.2 rating. ABC took second with a 3.4, edging CBS, 3.3. NBC averaged 1.9 and The CW 0.9.
The conclusion of the Rose Bowl on ABC averaged 8.5/13 to win the 8 p.m. hour. FOX delivered a 5.4/8 with its Fiesta Bowl pregame show and the early portion of the game. Reruns of "How I Met Your Mother," 4.9/7, and "The Class," 4.5/7, put CBS in third. A "Heroes" repeat on NBC was fourth. The CW averaged 1.8/3 with encores of "Everybody Hates Chris" and "All of Us."
FOX improved to 9.4/14 at 9 p.m. with the Fiesta Bowl between Boise State and Oklahoma. CBS moved up to second with "Two and a Half Men," 7.6/11, and "Old Christine," 6.3/10. ABC's "Supernanny," 4.5/7, finished third, ahead of a second hour of "Heroes," 3.3/5, on NBC. The CW went with repeats of "Girlfriends" and "The Game."
At 10 p.m., CBS' "CSI: Miami" rerun, 7.8/13, outdrew the Fiesta Bowl, 7.6/12, on FOX. A second "Supernanny" held steady on ABC, while NBC got a 3.1/5 from yet another episodee of "Heroes."
