Tuesday 2nd Jan. Ratings: NBC Squeezes Orange Bowl Tuesday

TV viewers were more into "SVU" than the BCS Tuesday, allowing NBC to score a ratings win opposite FOX's college football.
NBC averaged an 8.6 rating/13 share for the night, scoring a fairly sizable victory over FOX, 6.4/10. CBS was a close third at 6.2/10. ABC came in fourth with a 3.9/6, and The CW trailed at 1.3/2.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, NBC's 4.1 rating was tops, beating out FOX's 3.4. CBS averaged 2.5, followed by ABC, 2.0, and The CW, 0.8.
A repeat of "NCIS," 8.3/13, won the 8 p.m. hour for CBS. NBC's "Dateline" finished second at 6.7/10, while FOX's coverage of the Orange Bowl between Louisville and Wake Forest drew a 5.9/9. ABC went with a rerun of "America's Funniest Home Videos," and The CW got a 1.6/2 from a "Gilmore Girls" repeat.
NBC took the lead at 9 p.m. as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 9.1/14, scored its best ratings in some time. The Orange Bowl improved to 7.0/11 on FOX, dropping CBS' rerun of "The Unit," 5.7/9, to third. Two episodes of "Big Day" averaged 3.2/5 for ABC. The CW aired a rerun of "Veronica Mars."
"Law & Order: SVU," 10.0/17, grabbed the night's highest rating for NBC at 10 p.m. College football delivered a 6.3/11 for FOX, topping reruns of "Numb3rs" (4.5/7) on CBS and "Boston Legal" (3.5/5) on ABC.
