'House' Star Laurie Honored by the Queen

Hugh Laurie has taken a break from endanging and then saving lives to visit with the Queen.
The "House" star was at Buckingham Palace Wednesday (May 23) to be made a member of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II, report news sources.
The British order of chivalry established in the early 20th Century by King George V to fill gaps in the British honors system.
Laurie, 47, made the list for his services to drama. Along with Emma Thompson and Stephen Fry, he's a member of the Cambridge Footlights comedy group. He's best known in Europe for his roles in the "Blackadder" series, working with Fry in the sketch show "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" and the adaptation of the P.G. Wodehouse stories "Jeeves and Wooster."
Of course, stateside he's best known as the brilliant but eccentric Dr. Gregory House -- a role that recently earned him a Golden Globe and SAG award -- on the FOX medical drama "House."
His film resume includes "Peter's Friends," "Sense and Sensibility," "101 Dalmatians," "Stuart Little" and "Flight of the Phoenix."
