Ellen DeGeneres in Doghouse With Pet Adoption Agency

Post by: Sal

Angelina Jolie never had so much trouble with her adoptions.

Ellen DeGeneres was forced to make a heartfelt plea on her talk show, airing Wednesday, Oct. 17, regarding a pooch she had given to her hairstylist's family, reports TMZ.com.

The dogfight began when DeGeneres' partner Portia de Rossi brought home a Brussels Griffon mix named Iggy. Unfortunately, the host's cats and Iggy fought like, well, you know, so DeGeneres decided to give the dog to her hairdresser. This is when the Mutts and Moms rescue agency began to howl. Apparently this act violated DeGeneres' agreement to hand the critter back to the agency if the initial adoption didn't take.

Mutts and Moms then sent a rep and police to the hairdresser's home on Sunday, Oct. 14 and seized Iggy back.

"It's become so insane ... the dog just needs to go to the family," says DeGeneres on her show.

According to People, Vanessa Chekroun and Marina Batkis, who run the agency, are looking out for Iggy's best interests.

"[Batkis] doesn't think this is the type of family that should have the dog," says Keith A. Fink, an attorney who is acting as the agency's spokesman. "She is adamant that she is not going to be bullied around by the Ellen DeGenereses of the world ... They are using their power, position and wealth to try to get what it is they want."

Ever since DeGeneres revealed her tale of doggy woe on Monday, the Mutts and Moms agency has been the target of vicious voicemails and emails threatening death and arson.

It's unclear what makes the hairdresser's family inappropriate pet parents. The family has two daughters, 11 and 12, certainly old enough for pet ownership responsibilities. TMZ.com also points out that in DeGeneres' case, her own home didn't have to undergo any sort of inspection or approval process when she initially adopted Iggy.

Take Care,

Sal xoxo
