'ER' Star Mekhi Phifer Becomes a Dad

Mekhi Phifer, who plays Dr. Greg Pratt on "ER," was at real-life hospital himself recently.

The actor and his fiancee, Oni Souratha, welcomed their first child together on Tuesday morning (Oct. 30) in Los Angeles, reports People.

The boy, Mekhi Thira Phifer, weighed 5 lbs., 4 oz. at birth.

"We are really happy and excited," says the couple. "He is beautiful."

Phifer already has an 8-year-old son, Omikaye, from his previous marriage to actress Malinda Williams.

Phifer, 32, also had a recurring role on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and won the fourth season of "Celebrity Poker Showdown." His film credits include "Soul Food," "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," "O," "8 Mile," "Honey" and "Dawn of the Dead."
