'Crowned' Gets a Beauty of a Premiere
Post by: Sal
As the writers' strike moves into its second week, The CW is already presenting its latest reality show, which may be an omen for the future of TV programming.
The green network announced Monday (Nov. 12) that "Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants" will premiere Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT, just following the season finale of the ninth cycle of "America's Next Top Model."
After its debut, the one-hour reality show that centers on a beauty pageant featuring mother/daughter teams will then take over the Wednesday 8-9 p.m. slot for seven more episodes, with the finale on Jan. 30.
Each of the 11 daughters -- all 18 or older -- will pair up with their respective mothers to battle it out against the other teams. The challenges will include branding a mother/daughter style of clothing, expressing their opinions about the world and the requisite big dance number. Throughout these contest requirements, the teams will also have deal with their tricky and volatile personal relationships.
The winners will snag fabulous mother/daughter tiaras in addition to a $100,000 cash reward, which will no doubt become an additional bone of contention regarding how it should be split.
"Queer Eye" maven Carson Kressley will play judge along with "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Shanna Moakler and TV personality Cynthia Garrett.
Take Care,
Sal
