'Dancing With the Stars' Champ Calls Off Engagement!

Helio Castroneves may have come away with the "Dancing With the Stars" mirror ball trophy last night, but he won't be racing to the altar anytime soon.

The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner and his fiancee, Aliette Vazquez, have split, reports People.

"I can confirm that Aliette Vazquez and I have called off our engagement and are no longer together," says Castroneves. "At this time I would prefer to keep my private life private."

The couple had pushed back their engagement earlier in the fall TV season because of the demands of his career and his participation on "Dancing With the Stars."

Earlier, he had told "Entertainment Tonight," "We postponed it for a little bit until next year ... Everything is happening so quick. The [IndyCar Series] championship is over, the dancing started, and basically, I was like, 'Ali, let's take it easy. Otherwise, we will be divorced before we get married.'"

Castroneves, 32, paired up with pro dancer Julianne Hough on the latest "Dancing With the Stars" and won the coveted trophy against Spice Girl Melanie Brown. Coincidentally, Hough had also postponed her wedding to her ex-fiancee, dancer Zach Wilson, the previous season because of the show's scheduling demands.
