Plot
The Cold Case squad investigates when a young deaf student goes missing. Sadly, his body is finally located, the victim of foul play...

[ ANDY RILES ]
17 years old (Submit 18 to play younger), handsome with a devious charm, Andy is a popular, well-liked kid, enrolled and living at Philadelphia's only high school for the deaf. Andy, who lost his hearing at age seven, is an expert at ASL, and can also read lips. Seemingly well-adjusted to his silent world, he infuriates his peers and parents when he takes an interest in a hearing girl who's volunteering at the school. His desire to get a cochlear implant creates even more turmoil with his family and outrages his best friend. When Andy goes missing, the authorities are notified and sadly, soon after, the young man's body is found, the victim of foul play... (1) GUEST STAR. [ CARLOS RAMIREZ ]
17 years old (Submit 18 to play younger), he is Andy's best friend and loyal sidekick. Bad-tempered, but with a fun-loving streak, he is also deaf, abandoned by his parents. Carlos, too, is adept at ASL and an expert lip reader. He's incensed when he learns that Andy wants to be fitted with a cochlear implant. While berating Andy for his decision, Carlos, we later learn, also would like the chance to hear, but is not a candidate for the device. Two years later, at 17, Carlos is more insolent and a loner... In his 40s, this is Andy's father, grief stricken over the loss of his son. Deaf, and an expert at ASL, he communicates with Vera and Valens using sign language, with Vivian acting as an interpreter. We later learn of Ed's resistance to Andy's insistence about getting a cochlear implant, but he finally relents, contrite in his admission that he was being selfish and short-sighted... In her 40s and deaf, she is Andy's grief-stricken mother. She is a loving, well-meaning parent, but also loyal to deaf culture which frowns on the idea of getting a cochlear implant to "fix" the problem of deafness... (7) GUEST STAR. 17 (Submit 18 to play younger), slutty and possessive, this deaf high school student considers Andy her personal property, outraged when Andy takes an interest in Emma. Seen two years later, Leah is a "young girl who's desperately trying to keep up an optimistic front, the slutty edge is gone."
