'Women's Murder Club' Still Alive?

According to multiple sources, the ABC drama could return later this season with as many as three additional episodes if — and this is a big if — a new show-runner can be found in the next few days.

Coincidentally, just hours ago, a Murder Club staffer e-mailed to tell me that, contrary to my report in this week's Ask Ausiello, the show's sets have not been struck. But in my defense, they almost were. "The crew started tearing down the sets last Thursday," whispers the set-sider, "but on Friday, they were told to stop because there was a plan in motion to resuscitate the show."

Whether or not that plan succeeds is the big question. And even if a show-runner is found and those three episodes are produced, there's still no guarantee that Murder Club will be back in the fall. "ABC wants to see what these three episodes look like before making a decision," notes an insider. "That's why it's so critical that they get made. Without them, the show is doomed."

My advice to Murder fans? Check back throughout the weekend for updates to this fast-moving story. In the meantime, this might be a good time to remind ABC that the show has a lot of support. At least I think it does.

Take Care,

Sal

I really like this show. It shows how tough women can be and still be vulnerable to some things. I think the cast is great and they deserve another chance. I think a lot of the ratings for these shows had to do with the pending Writer's Strike and a lot of people didn't want to be bothered with TV anymore because of it. Let's get back to real television entertainment the way it was supposed to be.
