"Juno" and "No Country for Old Men" continued to rack up pre-Oscars awards on Saturday, winning their respective categories at the Writers Guild Awards.

Because of the strike, the guild opted not to have its usual formal ceremony this year. Writers in Los Angeles were gathered to discuss their tentative deal with the studios, while the guild's East Coast branch held a casual event.

Diablo Cody took home the award for best original screenplay for "Juno," the comedy about a pregnant teenager and her attempts to find a home for her unborn child. Joel and Ethan Coen also won for their adaptation of "No Country for Old Men," which is among the leading Oscar nominees. Both films have a slew of critics' awards already on their shelves.

In the TV categories, HBO's "The Wire" won the honor for best dramatic series, and "30 Rock" continued its recent awards run with the honor for best comedy series. Episodes of "The Sopranos" and "The Office" took honors for episodic drama and comedy.
