Former "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow is getting back into business with NBC, delving into the ancestry of some of her fellow celebrities in a new series.

NBC has picked up a show called "Who Do You Think You Are?" from Kudrow's production company, Is or Isn't Entertainment. Based on a BBC series of the same name, the documentary-style show will trace the genealogy of a well-known person in each episode, revealing the struggles and triumphs the subject's family faced in the past.

"I think at the heart of every American is the burning desire to understand who you are and where you came from," says Craig Plestis, head of alternative programming at NBC. "We hope this series will inspire our viewers to investigate their own intriguing past.

"Who Do You Think You Are?" debuted on BBC Two in 2004 and moved to the flagship BBC One in 2006. Among the celebrities who've taken part in the show are Jeremy Irons, John Hurt, Nigella Lawson, Graham Norton and David Tennant. Versions of the series have also aired in Canada and Australia.

"The show's combination of wonderful storytelling and powerful emotion has made it a break-out hit with British viewers and we're sure American audiences will love it too," creator Alex Graham says. "We're thrilled that a star of the caliber of Lisa Kudrow has such faith in the show that she wanted to be a part of the creative team."

Kudrow and Graham ("Frontier House") will serve as executive producers of the show, along with Kudrow's Is or Isn't partners Dan Bucatinsky ("The Comeback") and Don Roos ("Happy Endings").

Take care,

Sal
