TV Hot Spot: Big Day
Big Day Season 1 Episode 1: Pilot
Review by: Sal & Shai
Sal: Hey guys! I am here with the famous Shai! *Crowd goes wild* (lol) Ok enough funny talk. This is a review about the series premiere of "Big Day". It is good to see ABC actually launch a comedy sitcom which actually has some promise. Obviously, again there was a lot of buzz around this episode, and this series as a whole really. Some people thought it would be a hit, while most doubted it. And well, I have to say that the first episode of the series came out some-what in the middle. It scored around 7.6 Million Viewers, which honestly isnt that bad. Some people thought it would score less so that was a plus. For me, personally, I would think that the show actually did well. It didnt flop, nor was it a major hit. So finding out if ABC continues with this show or not, is completely up to the ratings of the next few episodes...So Shai lets get on with the review!
Shai: Well I liked it. I didnt 'love' it, but I did enjoy myself. One critique though, lose the groom!
Sal: (lol!) You cant lose the groom! He is...the groom!
Shai: Yah well I dislike him...Other than that I think I will be tuning into this series some more. Seeing as most of the other series have gone on breaks, I guess I could squeeze this one in!
Sal: Yup. So lets start with this series. It is all about the 'Big Day'. A wedding between Alice and Danny. A couple who seem like they really care for eachother. But you see how would we know that when they just show us around 37 minutes of a day in a whole episode! I still dont know how they are going to work around that. Other characters were funny too, Skobo & Becca's little thing was cute. But the BIG thing about this episode was Jane. The mother of the bride. Who seriously fits the stereotypical role of the controling mother-in-law. The writers did a very good job with it, and I didnt mind them squeezing in the whole drama in just 20 minutes.
Shai: Yes...the main concept in this episode "The Ceaser Salad"!
Sal: Dun Dun Dun! (lol) That was hilarious I have to say. When the wedding planner, Lorna, calls in to check about the Ceaser Salad, the whole house goes loose and cracks! It is amazing what writers could do these days to keep fans watching...
Sal & Shai: Final thoughts. Good Pilot. Hoping the next few episodes will do better, both in ratings and writing. Characters seem funny, especially Jane. And this has been another Review from us here at TV Hot Spot. Keep the comments coming and dont forget to spread the word.
Take Care!
