TV Hot Spot: One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill Episode 9: Some You Give Away

Review by: Sal & Shai

Oh My God. That is the first thing I have to say before we can even begin to review this episode. This episode truly deserved the ratings it recieved, bringing in a rating of 2.7/4. This basically means that around 4.2 Million Viewers tuned in to watch the episode. What this also means is that this episode has marked a season high, giving the series its highest ratings in all of seasons 4, 3 and probably most of 2. The good thing about this is that it proved to the CW that it actually is a promising show and that giving the show a full order for season 4 was the right idea. So, me and Shai are here, and we are about to review the episode...

Sal: See the episode begins with the writers giving us the picture that the Tree Hill Ravens have lost the championship. Later on we find out that it was a recording of the championship 18 years ago, back when Dan Scott was in the basketball team. Now I am just going to be plain honest, I didnt like the way the writers wrote this episode. Yes it had suspense, but at the same time I didnt like the end result. I guess, in a way that is how most shows handle storylines. Not all the fans will be happy about particular storylines, and I for one, dont like the outcome. But thats for the end of the review. Lets start with the beginning. Cheerleaders! The lines they were given were hilarious. All the way from the game they played in the car-ride to the match, till the hospital waiting room and how they reacted to the nurse. It was fun, and it kind of gave me the hint that Brooke and Peyton are actually going to become friends again...I dont mind that...I think it's a good thing...What do you think Shai?

Shai: Well firstly, I LOVED this episode. It was so good! I always love their basketball episodes. But what I noticed (and hate) is when Lucas scores in the game. He does thing funny thing with his hand, which is weird. Im not sure if you noticed that too.

Sal: Oh and something I did not expect. What is up with what Rachel did? I didnt see this one coming. Her lying to everyone about flunking Calculus, when in reality it was Brooke who was failing. And Rachel was actually helping Brooke, by going undercover to retreive a key which unlocks a file cabinet full of next terms exams. How smart is that! Although, I hope they dont get caught. It was something I didnt expect at all really, and I like how the writers made this whole thing happen. Yah Rachel was being nice to Brooke, but at the same time, she was stealing! So its like, she is the devil....but nicer....

Shai: I guess she's making sacrifices for her friend. I dont understand how she could go from hating Brooke to being her best friend. I mean at first she tries stealing the squad and tries to take it over, and so I got quite confused. But yah, I hope they dont catch Brooke. Rachel, I dont mind so much (lol).

Sal: Peyton and Lucas. Something I realised in this episode was that these two have not been 'together' ever since the first season. Like obviously there was some chemistry, but they were never a boyfriend/girlfriend sort of thing. So while watching this episode, I noticed that and even though I am a Brooke-lover, I dont mind seeing Lucas and Peyton together because I seriously think Brooke can do way better (lol). But at last, Lucas admits he feels the same way....awww....

Shai: As much as I dislike Peyton, I dislike Lucas way more! (Nathan-lover all the way!) He doesnt deserve Brooke or Peyton. What is up with this guy. He goes and tells Brooke that he is the one for her, and a few episodes later is kissing another girl. Where is the logic in that? But, like Sal, as long as Brooke is not with him I am happy. Something I wanted to bring up is...maybe there is something going on with Brooke. Why did she push the 2 (Lucas and Peyton) together? Ever since the end of season 3, and up to the last few episodes we see Brooke 'wanting' Peyton to be with Lucas. If you remember, on her birthday, Brooke was looking at pictures of Payton and Lucas together (walking out of the mall)...I seriously think something is behind that and Brooke is not telling us something...

Sal: Finally! The last thing about this episode. Which I will comment on a little is. The ending. Nathan finally decided to win the game. A huge turnover in the end. Dante on the other hand, doesnt like the outcome and decides to run him over. Haley pushes Nathan, and gets hit herself. Here is where I stood screaming at the television screen. I like Haley! I dont want her to get hit by a car! So while watching it, I really felt bad! I didnt want the poor girl to get hit, and I hope the baby is ok...although with an accident like that I dont think the baby made it. THEN...to add more drama, as Lucas panics, he has cardiac arrest. And while thats going on, on the other side of the street Nathan goes and pulls Dante out of his broken down car (Dante crashed into a construction site), and what I dont get, is why Dan comes and tells Nathan that HE killed Dante? The guy crashed his car, I would think thats what killed him. And another I did not expect, Dan takes the fall for his son. Something he did which was noble, a first time for everything I guess....

Shai: Yah I dont think Nathan killed Dante, I think he died in the crash and when Dan came up to Nathan and told him "You killed him" I was like, Wow what a nice thing to say to your son. But I think its a good thing he took the fall for Nathan, because it shows that he does have a good side. And like I suggested before, in the last review, Karen is a good influence on Dan now, so I think this 'goodness' rubbed off on Dan and I think we are about to see a nicer side of him. Oh and the part where Lucas told Dan "I wish Keith was here too..." that was akward huh?

Sal & Shai: So guys. We hope you enjoyed watching this show. And for those who are die-hard fans of the show, you can celebrate with the amazing ratings that this episode brought in.
