TV Hot Spot: Justice

Justice Episode 10: Filicide

Review by: Sal

Hey Readers! Its me again, and today I am going to add in the last minute review for the latest episode of "Justice". A series which I have watched from A to Z, and have loved every minute of it. Again as my last review I am completely baffled at why the ratings are so low. Of course, being on FOX may be one reason, but with series like "House" & "Prison Break" on the same network I don't see why "Justice" can't do better. So as I begin, I will touch upon the ratings of this latest episode. It scored an average of 3.3/6, which means it brought in around 4.6 Million Viewers. This is up a bit from last week, but as the weeks do go by we hear nothing from FOX about a cancellation or a full-season pick up. Many thing that FOX will just air the original 13 episodes which were filmed and stop from there. Personally, I dont see why they dont' renew it. The series is doing just as good as the other two new FOX series "Til Death" & "Standoff". But again, I am not a network executive (lol).

Ok so the review will be cut up into different topics. The first topic will be about the murderer. In this case a woman who has called Ron and told him that she had just killed her son. From that moment on I knew that there was something wrong with this particular client. Something I didn't believe from the very start. A woman who would kill her own son would seem guilty to all, but then again viewers would have to remember that they wouldn't make it that easy. The way she spoke, the way she acted, I sort of knew her judgement from the very beginning. I didn't believe her, and in the end, nor did the jury. At times, I must admit I did believe her. But that just means that the creator and writers of this series have done a very good job.

Another topic is Ron Trott, and his fellow partners. The murderer in this episode is connected with Ron. Aparrently the two had a small relationship back in the day and this case is personal for Ron. His partners on the other hand see the realistic side of things and know that Ron's view on this whole thing might be swayed just because he knows their client. Throughout the episode we get to see Ron & his client talking, privatly. The writers make you realise that the two were ver close and this is what I loved most! In the viewers mind you would think Ron & his partner lawyers are the good-guys, and by being that they are defending an innocent client. But of course, we see in previous episodes that this is not the case.

Ok up to another topic. The special effects crew. I always say this in reviews and I always will. The reason why is because this is one of the main reasons I watch this series. The effects in this episode was another thing I was so happy with. And it usually happens when Luther talks about the case. They change the scenarios, or the make things pop up on screen, or sometimes they even make you visualize an event. All of which are amazing and I feel 'unique' that other series don't have.

The writing in this episode was done well. We get to see more into the lives of the lawyers, in this case Ron. And the writers also include some mystery. The thing I love about this series too is the ending. When the jury depicts their verdict. No-matter how sure you are of the verdict, you are always kept in suspense and wait for that final judgement. In this episode, the judgement was 'guilty'. And a part of me actually felt sorry for her, that is until they show us the murder of her son (Sam). And then we know that she really was guilty of killing him. The whole background story of the victim and his mother was very interesting and again excellent writing.

Final thoughts on the episode as a whole. I really enjoyed it. I felt it was better than last week and to prove I am not the only one, the ratings were up. Meaning more viewers. I hope that this means the ratings will continue to go up, for a series on Fridays that is a good number, but for FOX it might not be good enough. "Justice"'s fate remains in the hands of the executives over at FOX. But for now, Thank you all for reading. Comments will be appreciated!

Take Care
