TV Hot Spot: Lost

SPECIAL: Lost Season 3 Recap

Review by: Sal & Nas

Sal: Hey guys. I have a special guest with me today, and his name is Nas. I just thought I needed an extra person to help recap on everything that I have missed out, and hopefully we will end up doing an excellent review together. So far, this season 3 of Lost has averaged very well in the ratings. Even though only 6 episodes were shown this fall, the creator of Lost had promised that a lot more will be shown in the upcoming episodes airing 2007. Enjoy the review!

Nas: Hi guys! I guess I can start off the review, and may I say what a great site this is. Proud to be apart of it, thats for sure! Ok so firstly, I thought that the season overall began slow to tell you the truth. And I really began to lose interest quickly. I did not like the fact that they only showed Jack, Kate and Sawyer for those first few episodes. However, in the season premiere, thats an episode I liked because it left a lot of mystery. But the show had a downfall from the on....

Sal: I agree with you Nas. I am a fan of Lost, and I must admit that this season has been very slow. I was not happy when I found out that we will only be seeing 6 episodes this season, and they didnt even show much insight to what we can expect. Yes, the show had its moments, but I expected much more from this one-time Hit show. The ratings help it of course, but I feel that the writers dont give the fans alot of information. They keep it bottled up and we go from one season, where we know nothing about "The Others", to another season where we have see just normal human beings hiding out on a 'different' island. I wish the writers gave us more to their story, or at least dedicated one episode explaining how these "Others" got to that island in the first place...

Nas: Oh for sure Sal. I definetly agree. I also feel that the writers are jumping from one mystery to another and are going to end up biting off more than they can chew. I mean have they even considered that possibility? They have completely ignored one of the very first mysteries which is the one about the polar bear, and where it came from. Also they didnt give us any information on what happened to Micheal and his son. Now they have us wondering about "The Others" and the mysteries within that new community, as well as the "Hatch" again. Going back to the last few episodes where they focused on John and the hatch. But for now, I would like to skip to another topic. Which is about Kate and Sawyer. I like the fact that they are together but can't help but feel Jack and her are meant to be...

Sal: Oh Kate and Sawyer. Half of me was like "Well its ABOUT time!" but the other half of me was like, "Nooo...You're meant to be with Jack". Its confusing actually. This is where the writers left me confused. At first her interest was Jack, then Sawyer. To be honest I would rather see her with Sawyer because I feel they have more in common, (Both being criminals lol). But the relationship is awesome. How she protected him was so strong. Speaking of Jack, the writers mostly give us a glimpse of what he is doing and how he is being treated. I think there are many factors concerning Jack because, firstly I think they focused too much on him this season. Again I am going to bring this fact up that they didnt show us alot of the other cast which I am getting very annoyed at. And when they do show the other cast, its not the cast you want to see (lol)! Another thing about Jack, which I think the writers left us hanging with was....who was that woman at the season 2 finale? The woman who picked up the phone at the very end? They never explained that at all....What do you think about Jack Nas?

Nas: Jack Nas? Sounds catchy (lol). Well I think Jack IS the main character of Lost, whether we like it or not...but you are right. They do focus way too much on him, igonring alot of the other aspects. And I almost forgot about that whole woman on the phone thing. Also, what did ever happen to Micheal and Walt? Did they make it or not? I feel the writers could have definetely used up some episodes at least explaining some of their previous storylines. That huge black smoke thing is starting to annoy me...for god sakes it killed Eko!

Sal: Oh yah! Eko! I am glad you brought him up. For our last topic I think we could discuss the matter of the other island as a whole. The writers dont show us much, but they do give us a few episodes showing us life at the other island. After the Hatch blasts, it seems that everything went back to normal for some reason. Some people were sceptic, but others went about with other storylines. For example Jack. He still went after the whole "Hatch" incident. Looking to see if it wasnt just an experiment and if there was something more behind it. Eko's death was something I did not see coming. It shocked me that the writers had killed him off so fast. Not knowing what exactly had caused his death (Some big black smoke monster thing). This all adds up to the mystery of the island. I want to see the writers engage more of the other cast and not just the old usual storylines, something more mysterious. We were never told what had happened to Saeed, Jin & Sun. Last we saw of the trio was when Sun shot one of the "Others". I was on the edge of my seat on that episode and I wished they showed more into it...

Nas: Yeah I agree again. I would have liked to see more of those three. However, on the positive side of things, I like that they introduced two new characters. Kiele Sanchez, and Rodrigo Santoro are both great new additions to the "Lost" cast. I find it more realistic that they showed the curiousity of the other standard passangers. And on the topic of that smoke moster, I wish the writers would tell us more...Guess we will have to wait and see..

Sal & Nas: Final thoughts on the season as a whole. Dissapointing, yet we love it. I think we both agreed on the fact that we expected more from this season but didnt get it. Although the creator of "Lost" did promise us that the next episodes which will air in 2007 will reveal a lot more. So we are hoping that, that is a good sign and will actually be true. More of the other cast is needed to be seen on the screen instead of the usual trio (Jack, Kate, & Sawyer). Thanks for reading guys. Give us your comments!

Hi there,

Im Sal. And Just to clear up on your question. If you look at the end of season 2. The last episode. You remember that the hatch blew up and everything turned white.

Well if you look, you will see a group of men getting a 'signal' and calling this woman. And telling her that they found the signal. The writers have yet to explain this and still didn't give us a name....

Hope that sums it up. I am sure you will find it if you watch the end of the last episode of season 2 again :)

well if lost decides to wait till 2009 to hell with the show
bout had it anyway,, and as for the writers to heck with them as well I make millions I want more
after they decide to write again the actors should quit and fans stp watch and buying the crap and see how they like not haveing anything come their way, because of this strike many good shows will now fail
I will stick to the british shows and dr who those writers arent whiners like american ones
screw lost

and screw to hell with the actors who back the strike
The only decent actors on the show are emerson and oquinn
anyway.
They can find other jobs
