TV Hot Spot: The New Adventures Of Old Christine

The New Adventures Of Old Christine Episode 11:
Crash

Review by: Sal

Hey everyone. I am here with my second review for today, one more coming up. But for now I guess we are stuck with this wonderful series. Now to be honest, I will admit if an episode is funny or not and give it my own criticisms. But this episode wa sa typical 'Christine' episode. We get to see Julia (Christine) really play out her role to the fullest and gave us all the Christine that we can get. Ok so before that, as always, the ratings come! Now this episode scored a 7.8/12 which basically matched the last fresh episode 2 weeks ago. Meaning that it brought it around 12 Million Viewers which is very good for this show. Although there has been some buzz on whether or not this show will get a third season or not. Honestly, I think it will. I enjoy the series and think it has massive potential. So I guess I can start with the review.

Ok so as I said earlier, this episode sort of reminded me of why I watched this series from the beginning. Christine's character is quite amusing, and how the writers depict her actions are so realistic. You could plainly keep her in the place of any tired housewife. The way she dressed, the way she looked, the way she acted even were all creatively done and very precise. This is excellent because that is who we want to see. Christine's character is one of the funniest female characters created in a long time. She holds the show together and is basically why it is such a hit.

Not forgetting of course, the other fantastic cast members of this show. Matthews, Little Richie, Richard and New Christine all play their parts out perfectly in this funny sitcom. So in this episode Christine is bullied by the wicked moms at little Richie's school. A simple accident forces Christine to rent an SUV, and that slowly changes her into one of the wicked moms. And if this storyline was explained to others, it wouldn't make sense. I at first wondered how the writers would turn this into a full episode. And to my delight they did it better than I expected. The little comments and lines that the cast had, as a reaction to Christine 'changing' was so funny to listen to and had me laughing throughout the whole episode.

Again I like the fact that this series was kept simple, thanks to the creator. This is proved to us by watching this episode, that the creators can still have Christine act out her character about a simple 'accident' and have all of its fans laughing at it for the whole episode.

Final thoughts on this episode as a whole. Even though the writers didn't include massive lines, or even storyline I liked the fact that this episode was kept for a christmas release. It was funny to watch, and just gave you and all-round good feeling about it. One thing I didn't like though was that we didn't get to see Barb's(Wanda Sykes) character in this episode and I hope that the writers realise that she deserves a recurring role in this series. Last episode was about her & Christine, and that was even funnier. Anyway guys, thanks for reading! And look out for my third and final review about "The Class" which will come out in an hour or so!

Take Care
