TV Hot Spot: Reba

Reba Episode 5: The Break Up

Review by: Sal

Hey guys. I am your TV Hot Spot Host, Sal. And I am about to review the latest episode of Reba for this season. The title of the series just says it all, and is actually not what it sounds like. This "Break up" was one of the most hilarious ones ever on TV. And it circulated around Reba & Van again. Now before I go into further detail I guess I should add in that the ratings for this episode were excellent! "Reba" managed to jump up to a 2.6/4, which means that the series managed to pull in 3.9 Million Viewers. This is great for the series and is a huge jump from last week. If you remember my previous review for "Reba" I stated that the ratings were lower than usual and that I hoped they would pick up, and it did better than I hoped and averaged a very good number for The CW on Sunday. And thats not all, "Reba" also managed to give "7th Heaven" (which shows after Reba on The CW Channel) its highest ratings this season! So congrats to this series for doing well not only for itself but a another show too. If The CW don't see this as a good reason to renew "Reba" for another season, I don't know what is.

Ok so for the review. We being the episode by seeing Van & Cheyenne talk about the job offer that Van got in the previous episode. Van of course turned it down, but the bonuses he will recieve with his new job is dwelling on both of their heads. He finally admits to his wife that he wants to finally accept the job. Now here is where the title of the episode fits in. Van has to break up with Reba. And how the writers do this is absolutely amazing. Its hilarious and was even funnier than before. Reba of course, agrees for Van to move to another company and him and Cheyenne are happy again...

Until...Van wants his half of clients which he signed in with Reba on his old job. And how Reba reacts to it is very realistic. Why would she want to give her clients away to another agency? So at first Reba denies it and challanges Van in order to get the client lists, which in the end he wins. But how the writers take these two characters is excellent. I noticed that they managed to put these two characters alot in this season, and I don't mind it at all because it is so funny.

Another thing I wanted to mention about this episode is Barba-Jean. Oh how much I enjoyed watching that audition tape of hers. It had me laughing like anything and clapping at the end of it. It was a typical Barba-Jean video. And you all know what that means. Its basically her acting, with the excellent writing which truly brings this amazing character to life. And throughout this episode we do see more of her and again I am finally used to her being thin, and I think she looks amazing. Her jokes are still funny, and even under that skinny boddy is the old & huge Barba-Jean that we all know and love (lol)!

Ok so the episode didn't really point out any storylines in particular. Oh and we finally had a chance to see Baby Henry. I think its a good move by the creator to show us Baby Henry in this episode, as well as Baby Elizabeth in the previous episode. Mainly because I was wondering where those two were since the beginning of the season. And now I know!

Final thoughts on the episode. I loved it and enjoyed it more than the episode before. It was filled with excellent writing, hilarious jokes, and wonderful acting. I am so glad that I decided to watch this season of "Reba" because it is at its best and I really hope that they renew it for next year. It is one of the lead CW shows, and IS their lead sitcome. So it deserves to be treated better! Thanks for reading everyone!

Take Care
