TV Hot Spot: Prison Break

SPECIAL: Prison Break Season 2 Recap

Review by: Shai & Nas

Nas: Hey guys! I am here with the wonderful Shai, and we are about to review the series "Prison Break" and our thoughts on its Season 2 showing this fall. But first, I would like to include something before we get on with the review and that is just a look towards the ratings. "Prison Break" is one of the most watched shows on the FOX network, competing with "House" of course. The fans stay true to this series and it still seems to amaze and shock us throughout. The beginning of season 2 had begun slow, but I must say that the writers have turned this upside down. So Shai, I think we should continue with the review! What did you think about it?

Shai: Hey there, Nas! Ok so straight on with the review. First of all I thought it was going pretty slow, like you said. I found it quite exciting but I felt Season 1 had a lot more suspense in it. Of course that is what happens to most series, for example "Lost" which Sal has told me has been filled with suspense in its first 2 Seasons, but is slowly dragging on its third. So in this Season of Prison Break, it begins 8 hours after the prisoners have escaped. A new character is introduced as Agent Alexander Mahone and he has taken over the search for the missing 8 from Bellick! He is seen as a ruthless man who manages to figure out the hidden meaning behind Michael's tattoos. This allows him to write where Michael is headed and what he has planned! Interesting! What did you think of Mahone Nas?

Nas: I actually found the start of the second season to be really exciting! But again we both agree that it wasnt as exciting as the first. And about Mahone....I find him excruciatingly annoying! But in a good way. He makes it challenging for Michael and the other fox river 8 because he seems to understand Michael's every move. So as we moved on, how did you feel about the story as it progressed?

Shai: Well we are back on the edge of our seats, if thats what you mean (lol), and rooting for all the escapees! Except T-Bag of course. At the end of the last season, Veronica has found Steadman, she then realises she's been locked in and calls the police. When they arive, they shoot her on the spot! (Shocking!) However, this all happened while Linc was n the phone with her. The writers have yet to show us Michael and Linc trying to clear Linc's name, but have rather just showed them trying to escape! No complaints from me! There wouldn't be the suspense of "Prison Break" without it! Ok so we should move on to the other escapees. Tweener was told to leave the rest of the gang because of his betrayel. He then finds a girl who takes him to Ohio. If you remember, last season, the prisoners found out that Westermoreland's cash was hidden in Ohio. Therefore, all the prisoners are heading that way. Mahone catches him while getting stuff needed for the digging of the cash, he then kills him after being tricked as to the whereabouts of the other prisoners. Oh and by the way this is the first time we see Mahone's dark side and figure he is working for the bad side. He also killed John Abruzzi towards the beginning of the season. I have to say that I was quite surprised he was killed of so quickly.

Nas: Yeah Veronica's death was a real shocker! I had my hand covering my mouth for at least 5 minutes! I was also really dissapointed when Mahone killed Tweener, he was one of my favourite characters! And Shai how could you forgot Sucre's storyline! I find his really interesting...His deep devotion and love to Mari Cruz and his desperate attempts to find her and get her away from Hector...It is touching in the end how she and her sisters leave to Mexico and she said 'No' to Hector at the wedding...However, I highly doubt Sucre's search is over! He has long to go after jumping out of that plane...

Shai: Yeah definately, Sucre is one of my favourite characters! However T-Bag!The most evil of all the escapees got his hand cut off. Instead of dying he manages to find an Indian vet who he threatens to stitch his hand back on. He then kills him and heads to Ohio in search of the cash. He manages to get there before everyone else and gets the map that everyone needs. He swallows the map so that Michael and Linc are forced to keep him with them. All the escapees except Haywire, Tweener and Abruzzi are at the site of where the money has been buried. They realise the place where the money has been buried has been transformed into a residential area. They con their way into going to a woman’s house by pretending they are from the electrical company giving them permission to dig. Michael, Linc and Sucre devise a plan to keep the money to themselves by pretending that Sucre has turned against them and is taking the money himself. T-Bag manages to out smart them by switching the bags and ends up with the money!

Nas: Yeah and then Bellick found out about the plan and you know what happened after that! Bellick and his partner find T-Bag and make him tell them where the money is. After that Bellick is betrayed by his partner and get knocked over the head. T-Bag then finds Bellick's partner, kills him, and takes the money and finds the woman who got him into jail, ending up at her door step. While Bellick finds out his partner is dead and ends up being framed for his murder due to a threatening voicemail message he had left. And talk about Irony! Bellick ends up in jail with Tweener's old cell mate (Avacado)...What a twist of fate!

Shai: yeah i couldnt believe that Bellick was blamed for the murder! but it was good to see him behind bars! maybe now he'll know how it feels like! So Back to Michael and Linc. Linc leaves Michael while they are digging for the cash with the others as he hears LJ has been set free! In season 1, Kellerman murdered LJ’s mother and stepfather and the murder was blamed on LJ. LJ is used as an incentive to capture Linc (his father). Linc manages to escape taking LJ with him! He then meets up with his farther. Linc decides to leave LJ with people who work for his father to keep LJ safe. Linc and his father head to where Michael is. The reunion between father and sons is short lived as Mahone turns up. As a shooting war takes place their father is killed.

Nas: Oh yes that was really sad that they only got to see him for a short while. And let us not forget the main and now only female character in the series, Sara Tenkredy! Her story line really captured me! I liked how she escaped from Kellerman and his torture (Though he really didn't want to do it and was reluctantly following orders). She now knows that the key is actually a flash disk

Shai: The Fall Finale was Amazingggg!!! Mahone is hot on the trail of Michael and Linc and is just about to kill them as Agent Kim (from the company) ordered him to do. The Patrol shows up before Mahone is able to kill them and they are taken into custody to be sent back to Fox River. On the way there, Mahone has set up that a key should be accidentally left behind during a staged disturbance. After being betrayed by Agent Kim, Kellerman tells Mahone to let him help him kill Michael and Linc to prove he is still of use to The Company. Michael and Linc grab the keys and run away with Mahone running behind them. They are then cornered by Mahone and Kellerman and just as we think its over for Michael and Linc, Kellerman shoots Mahone and tells them if they want to know the truth they should come with him! Talk about a shocking ending!!! Is Mahone dead? Did Kellerman really switch sides? Will Sara meet up with Michael again? Hopefully we’ll find out on Jan 29th when Prison Break returns. Feel free to leave comments!

Nas: Yes Oh my god! That was really a mind blowing mid-season finalle! I like how the events are in favor of Linc and Michael. Anyway all thats it for now! Hope you enjoyed our recap...take care you guys and catch us again later!

Take care guys!
