Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006

On the day after Christmas, audiences returned to their regular TV viewing habits, despite a lack of fresh programming.

As usual, CBS took the ratings title for Tuesday, averaging a 6.7 rating/11 share for the night. NBC barely finished second, 5.4/9, ahead of FOX, 5.2/9, but well ahead of ABC's 2.9/5 and the CW's 1.2/2.

Adults 18-49, however, flocked to FOX, which posted a 3.2 rating. NBC followed in the demographic with a 2.6, CBS, 2.2, ABC, 1.6, and the CW, a measly 0.7.

CBS kicked off 8 p.m. with the night's highest rating, a 7.2/12, for a repeat of "NCIS." NBC's "Dateline" took second with a 5.1/9, followed by FOX's first "House" rerun of the night, 4.7/8. The strange stop-motion combo of a reindeer, baby, caveman and knight in "Rudolph's Shiny New Year" brought ABC a 2.9/5, still far ahead of the CW's "Gilmore Girls" rerun, 1.3/2.

Despite switching over to a telecast of the "Kennedy Center Honors," CBS still ruled the 9 o'clock hour, snagging a 6.1/10. FOX's second "House" brough a 5.7/10, while NBC's "Law & Order" repeat took a 5.2/9. ABC's double shot of marital distress in "Big Day" posted a 2.5/4 for the hour, with the CW's "Veronica Mars" repeat trailing with a 0.9/2.

At 10 p.m., the "Kennedy Center Honors," 6.6/12, still led the way for CBS, despite a valiant effort by NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" repeat, 6.0/11. ABC finished third with a 3.3/6 for its "Boston Legal" repeat.
