Pilots: CBS Celebrates '22 Birthdays'
Post by: Sal
CBS has resurrected the drama pilot "22 Birthdays" from Doug Liman, while FOX has ordered up a medical and police procedural.
Originally developed for last season, "22 Birthdays" focuses on the intertwining lives of wealthy Los Angeles parents whose kids are all in the same first-grade class and meet regularly for birthday parties. The NBC Universal production is probably more exciting that it sounds.
Peter Noah ("The West Wing") and Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein ("Futurama") wrote the pilot, which will be produced by Liman and Dave Bartis of Dutch Oven.
Meanwhile, over at FOX, the network has asked for pilots for "The Cure" and "K-Ville."
"The Cure" is executive produced by Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot "revolves around a group that cuts through the red tape of medical bureaucracy -- often at their own peril -- to get care to those who need it most," whatever that means. The script was written by Patrick Massett and John Zinman ("Lara Croft: Tomb Raider").
"K-Ville," from writer-producer Jonathan Lisco ("NYPD Blue"), is a buddy cop drama set in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
In other pilot news, NBC has ordered the comedy "The Mastersons of Manhattan," a soapy sitcom from Gary Janetti ("Will & Grace") about two sisters from an upper crust New York family.
