TV Hot Spot: The O.C.

The O.C. 4x11: The Dream Lover

Review by: Sal

Hey guys. The last review of the week and tomorrow the site will be up and running with the new and latest reviews for the new episodes of "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers & Sisters". So until then, I am stuck with this series which sadly is ending in February. "The O.C." has been seen by many as the series that saved the FOX network back when it started in its first season and has touched many throught the seasons. The dip in ratings is probably due to the fact that the series lost most of its viewers during the third season and has never recovered from that dip.

Now to begin with the ratings. The episode managed to bring in around 4 Million Viewers! This is the average for the episode and is actually a stable number for the series seeing as it isn't dipping any lower and is actually going to go out with a bang. Speaking of the end, the creator of "The O.C." stated that he announced the series finale in January so that fans all over the USA would get the chance to catch the series finale, and I have a feeling that episode 16 (the series finale) will get very good ratings. The series deserves it. It used to be one of the biggest shows on television.

So for the review of the actual episode. First lets look at Ryan and Taylor. Now like I said before, I never thought that these two would be good for eachother, but as the episodes go by I am proven wrong. These two are so cute together, and in this episode Taylor is confused and has given up on Ryan after he repeatedly ignored her calls. And because she is confused she doesnt know if she should live with Henri or stay with Ryan. And after a Ryan wrote a POEM for Taylor (YES I said POEM), she chooses Ryan because he indeed loves her. For some reason, I didn't buy it that Ryan wrote that poem. Its just not something the old-Ryan would do. I guess this new-Ryan is a new creation the writers are giving us. Oh well as long as the two are together then its good!

Another couple. Seth and Summer. In this episode we see Chey, as he tries and helps Seth find his way as well as Summer. Now Seth was ignoring Summer because lets admit it, after she said no to his proposal it kind of crushes a guy. And so after a full episode of akward situations and laughs, Seth and Summer are back and into full action! Its good to see these two finally being their old selves. I missed them throughout the whole season and in this episode we get to see them once more. I am not sure whats in store for these two for the series finale but I am told that it is going to be a hit.

Ok so two other ladies of the series. Kiersten & Julie. Now Kiersten isn't talking to Julie in the episode and fired her after finding out that she turned their dating service into a prostitution joint! But instead of the writers making it one of those usual dramatic fights, they turn it into a comedic one where Julie tries everything in her power to talk to Kiersten. Even tell her that her clients might have a disease! The whole crazy goose chase turns into a funny interaction between the characters and that is what I love about these two. So serious, and so funny!

Kaitlen finds out that even though she is happy with her new boyfriend, she might be influencing him in a very wrong way. Now to Kaitlen, she thinks of herself as a cool kid and even though she is smart and cares about others in the end she is a bad seed. Doing drugs and drinking. And in this episode she realises that this bad influence might slowly grow on her 'good' boyfriend and turn him into something he doesn't want to be. So will this be the end of the relationship? What I would like to see happen is instead of Kaitlen influencing her boyfriend, let him influence her! Make her turn into a better person and help her see her wrong ways. It would be a nice way to end her story for the series, again it is too bad that the series is ending. The writers could have had such good fun with her character!

Final thoughts on the episode. It was a good one! Was filled with laughs and again is what the Old-OC used to be like. A lot of news going around, trying to promote the series and give it a good ending, and alot of them are talking about how good Season 4 is. But sadly, all that promotion is still not doing the show justice. I just wish that it goes out with a bang, even though I will be very sad to see it go! Thanks for reading everyone, feel free to leave comments!

Take Care xox
