Fast National ratings for Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007
The temporary departure of William Petersen on "CSI" (and the fact that "Grey's Anatomy" was a rerun) brought a big ratings win to CBS Thursday night.
CBS averaged an 11.2 rating/17 share for the evening, easily topping ABC's 7.1/11. NBC finished third at 5.8/9. FOX, 2.9/4, came in fourth, and The CW, 1.7/3, brought up the rear.
The adults 18-49 crown also went to CBS, which drew a 5.2 in the key ad-sales demographic. NBC's 4.1 took second, ahead of ABC's 3.8. FOX averaged 1.9 and The CW 1.1.
A repeat of "CSI" led the 8 p.m. hour for CBS with an 8.6/13. "Ugly Betty," 7.8/12, put ABC in second. NBC was third in households with "My Name Is Earl," 6.3/10, and "The Office," 5.4/8, but led the hour in adults 18-49. "'Til Death" and "The War at Home" averaged 3.2/5 for FOX, beating out a "Smallville" repeat on The CW.
Gil Grissom's (Petersen) last case at "CSI" for a while dominated the 9 p.m. hour, scoring a 15.8/24. A "Grey's Anatomy" rerun on ABC was a distant second at 6.9/10. "Scrubs," 4.7/7, and "30 Rock," 3.9/6, kept NBC in third. "The O.C." posted a 2.5/4, keeping FOX in front of The CW, which went with another "Smallville."
The big lead-in helped CBS' "Shark," 9.2/15, hold onto the top spot at 10 p.m. "ER" scored a 7.4/12 for NBC, and a second "Grey's" came in at 6.6/11 for ABC.
