TV Hot Spot: Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives 3x23: Getting Married Today

Review by: Sal

Hello readers and welcome to the FIRST review since we opened back up. Its been a while since I wrote a review for this wonderful ABC series. To be exact, its been about 10 episodes since I wrote my last review. Anyway, enough living in the past, I guess now this is a new time where I should take in the most recent thing I have seen and try and put it into words. SO! The "Desperate Housewives" finale, anyone here seen it? Of course you have! Because this finale was one of the most shocking finales ever on this series. Bringing in almost 19 Million Viewers, this show knows how to put you on the edge of your seat. Each of these characters had a climax and a storyline which was brought in and streched and now it is my job to review the episode, and depict what each housewife has faced.

First housewife, Gabrielle Solis. I had to start with her basically because she is my favourite character on the show. Rushing into the marriage, it felt like she had said the right thing at the right time, but later on as everything sinks in she now regrets it and wishes she had taken it back. As I watched the show bring these two together, I knew that he was bad news ever since he lost his temper two episodes ago, and this episode was a pure example of why she should'nt have married him. What will this desperate housewife do now that she figured out her husband is using her as an asset instead of something he loves dear. I guess we will find out this fall. We here at TV Hot Spot saw this coming, and Gabrielle sure saw it too but was blinded by love. I feel bad for her in a way, because this is her marriage second time around and it looks like its going to end horribly. I don't understand why the writers put her through so much, but oh well, I guess thats the point in shows these days!

Second housewife, we head over to Susan. Susan is the funniest housewife on Wysteria Lane, she always brings that sense of comedy into the series and I love it. This season Susan has struggled from the very first episode to win Mike over, and in comes Ian. The handsome british guy, whom after a few episodes found out that he could never come between Mike & Susans true love for one and other. So he left. Now in this episode we see a surprise wedding for the two, and I was the one screaming "FINALLY!" while watching it because its about time these two finally got together. Although I dont know how long they can stay all lovey dovey. It seems like their love is too good to be true and I am sure that the writers are going to increase the drama between them next season. The fact that Susan through the wedding, was so romantic, Mike deserved a break.

Third housewife, Lynette Scavo. Boy has this blonde been through alot. In the season the writers have put her in a supermarket shooting, had her arm shot, her husband opened up the restaurant but pulled his back, she took control of it and fell for a guy named Rick, and in the last episode she found out she might have cancer. It was like a hurricane and she just got caught in the middle. For this season, I feel mostly sorry for this housewife and I still can't believe that she might have cancer. Now I dont know if this is just me, but has the doctor diagnosed her with cancer already or is she waiting for a reply. Because in the last episode the doctor said it might be cancer. So I am not really sure. I feel that the writers have taken this marriage and really twisted it in a lot of ways. I just want to see Tom & Lynette be happy. Can we have some of that please?

Fourth housewife, Bree Hodge (Van De Kamp). WOHOO! She's back! But for the first 5 minutes her enterance made my jaw drop. I looked at the back of her head and I couldn't wait to see how thin she was after she lost the baby weight, but to my surprise she brought as PREGNANT on the show. I couldn't believe it, I thought it was magnificent how the writers shocked all of the viewers. Everyone was expecting her to look thin and gorgeous and not pregnant! But there was a twist of course, the pregnancy is fake and the only reason she is doing this is for when Danielle delivers her baby, Bree will act like it will be her child. I love what the writers did with this storyline because I thought that Bree has been through everything, but it turns out that this one thing hasn't come on her list. I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

And...finally....the cliffhanger! Edie hanged herself. My jaw dropped when I watched it and it literally happened in the last few seconds of the episode. I was actually expecting something big, but not THAT big! Although, something bothered me. I didn't see why she killed herself because she wasn't in love with Carlos so deeply. I mean, ok if it was a whirlwind romance which laster for years then I would understand, but here it was a bit unbelievable in a way. Maybe she was scared that she will end up like her mother. Alone. But other than that I say BRAVO to the writers for writing up an incredible finale. Whether it was intended for Edie to die, its up to the writers choice. What we at TV Hot Spot think? We think that she won't and will continue to star in the show and that someone is going to find her and send her to the hospital. BUT! Thats just us thinking!

Wait until next year...

Take Care,

Sal
