After getting killed off "Smallville," John Schneider may have played the smutty Ram Peters on "Nip/Tuck," but he's going back to a more family-friendly role with his next project.

The former "Dukes of Hazzard" star has been tapped alongside Molly Ringwald, Ernie Hudson and relative newcomer Shailene Woodley for the "Untitled Brenda Hampton Project" for ABC Family.

The latest effort by Hampton, who created the popular "7th Heaven," is a heartfelt hourlong drama that centers on an unexpected teen pregnancy and how it affects the relationships between families and friends. Schneider will play the recurring Dr. Marshall Johnson.

The regular cast includes Woodley as Amy Nicholson, Ringwald as her mother Anne Nicholson and India Eisley as Ashley Nicholson. Outside of the family, regulars will be Kenny Baumann as Ben, Daren Kagasoff as Ricky, "The Cutting Edge 3" star Francia Raisa as Adrian, Greg Finley as Jack, Megan Park as Grace Johnson and Jorge-Luis Pallo as Mark Green.

Joining Schneider with the recurring cast are Hudson as Dr. Ken Fields, Luke Zimmerman as Tom, Allen Evangelista as Henry, Amy Rider as Alice, Renee Olstead as Madison and "The Bernie Mac Show's" Camille Winbush as Lauren.

Ringwald is best known for her '80s-era teen films "Pretty in Pink," "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles." Hudson is one of the four original "Ghostbusters," and his TV credits include "Oz," "Desperate Housewives" and "Las Vegas."

Woodley, 16, played Kaitlin Cooper on "The O.C." and the title role in "Felicity: An American Girl Adventure."

Take care,

Sal
