TV Hot Spot: Ghost Whisperer

Ghost Whisperer Episode 10: Giving Up The Ghost

Review by: Sal & Shai

Hey guys. Sal & Shai here, and we are about to review the latest episode of Ghost Whisperer which is called "Giving Up The Ghost". It is the 10th episode of this second season, and we have yet to hear about a mid-season finale. First. Ratings. This episode scored a 6.7/12, this means that the episode ranked in about 10.3 Million Viewers. It was titled the winner of the night, which I would have to agree with. So lets begin with the review!

Shai: Hi guys! Ok so this episode's setting was based around baseball. Which I found really cool, becuase it gave us a look at Jim's background. I loved it when he wanted to get more involved with Melinda's ghost life. I like Jim. I like the character the writer's have made up, because he understands Melinda, and her powers. It was cute seeing him trying to stand up to the ghost and protect Melinda, even though he couldnt really seem him. I hope they dont kill his character off, like how they did with Andrea.

Sal: Yah, when the writers got rid of Andrea last season. I couldnt believe it. It was a shocker to me, but the transition wasnt that difficult. Alot of characters get cut in their first season, and its just a normal thing that happens on TV these days. To comment on a few things Shai has said, I also like the fact that they gave us a little look into Jim's past. It made him more realistic to us, the fans. And how he tried to defend his wife, to a ghost? Now that was hilarious. I think we should talk about the ghost now....Shai what do you think?

Shai: I agree! See what I dont get about this ghost is, why was he so powerful? I would have liked an explanation at least, during the episode. But there was nothing. No explanation whatsoever. And usually when that occurs, we usually see that the cause of that power is basically driven by the ghosts anger. But in this episode, the ghost isnt really different to the ones we saw in previous episodes. The ghosts earlier on were definetly more pissed than this one...

Sal: I would like to comment on that as well. Shai you raise a good point, and to be honest I didnt like the whole background to the ghosts death. It was....mild. Nothing special, nothing big, no sub-plots. So one criticism I have on this episode would have to be the ghost, seeing how its ironic that this is circulated around ghosts. And man! Does that ghost have power or what? Blowing Jim away, causing Melinda to choke, making Justin the baseball player's nose bleed. I would seriously like someone, maybe Professor Payne could atleast explain the different types of ghosts and their powers...

Shai: You know, maybe the ghosts are getting more powerful. Like last season. As it got closer to the end of season 1, the ghosts became more powerful because of that 'evil hat guy' or whatever they nickname him. Melinda never got rid of him, so maybe he is coming back?

Sal: See this is what I like about Ghost Whisperer. Is that there isnt an exact storyline going on, but they do include little things in each episode which keeps you interested. Usually only shows with a hook, and a good storyline manages to get the viewers tuning in every week. But Ghost Whisperer keeps on doing as good without a fixed storyline. I like how they keep on commenting about Melinda not being the 'Only one'. They usually put in ghosts talking about the 'other beings' that lurk around and capture souls and keep them from moving on. And every week I look for the tiny signals where I can find that.

Shai: I like Ghost Whisperer this season. Like Sal said, there isnt an exact storyline, like the last season. Because I remember, this time last season there was this HUGE storyline based around that 'evil hat guy'. But this season, even though it doesnt have that, I still like it!

Sal & Shai: Ok so that is it from us. The next episode of Ghost Whisperer will be out in the 2nd week of December. And we both seem to agree that there is probably something big coming. Something the writers will include Professor Payne in. So we hope you enjoyed our review, and feel free to comment! OH and by the way, in case any of you didnt notice. Justin who was the ghosts victim in this episode, is Mehcad Brooks. The guy from Desperate Housewives. (Just thought you should know!)

Take care guys!
