TV Hot Spot: Big Day

Big Day 1x04 & 1x05: The Bachelor Party & Stolen Vows

Review by: Sal & Shai

Sal: Hey everyone, me and Shai are here to bring you the latest review for this series. Now I am sure some of you have noticed that the blog has changed a bit. Ever since the 19th of December (2006) we have decided to run, trailers, news, ratings in the main feeds and not just the reviews. Due to TV being slow, and dedicating our blog to TV shows as a whole we want to bring you the latest information possible, so that you can enjoy your visit. So I guess I can pass you over to Shai now with the ratings of the two episodes, and hopefully begin the review!

Shai: Hi guys! And hello Sal, its a pleasure being here as usual! TV shows are coming up slow, I have to admit, we are forced to watch...RE-RUNS! (Dun Dun Dun! lol) So with that put away I will start off with the ratings! Now the network ABC has decided to put 2 episodes of this series per week, which I think is a good idea. Its a good idea in the sense that we will see more of it per week, but come to think of it also a bad idea seeing as the show is going faster which might mean that it would end sooner. Still no word of a full season so all we could do is hope! So the episodes ranked in a 3.1/5 which means it brought in around 4.6 Million Viewers!

Sal: Those ratings are not bad for the show, but are bad for the network. Remember, ABC cancelled 3 new shows last week and decided to keep Big Day for a little while longer. It might be a good sign, it might not. We will just have to wait and see. Anyway, now on with the review. As the episodes go by I begin to fall in love with the show and its cast. Correct me if I am wrong, and others do agree with me on this, but Lorna (the wedding planner) is the funniest woman on TV at the moment. Everytime I see her, even though she doesnt have any lines, she always manages to crack me up. Its hilarious, its funny, I thank the writers to be honest!

Shai: (lol) I know what you mean Sal. That woman is so funny and I even think she is the main reason I watch the show. Now in episode 4 we see a new character being introduced, the grandmother. Whom I think is a perfect addition to the cast. She was funny, and you could definetly see why Jane (the Mother) is all hectic and screwed up. Its because of the love she doesn't recieve from her mother. And the next episode, which is the 5th of the season, was about the vows and focused on Danny & Alice's relationship more. Oh and by the way, Danny (The groom) stopped annoying me...maybe its because I like the series more?

Sal: Well that must be a good sign I guess (lol). Yah so I enjoyed the 5th episode more than the 4th, mainly because Lorna made it funnier for some reason. The 'Magic Lamp' scene was the highlight of the episode. Poor, poor Lorna. (lol) Even remembering it makes me laugh. Now I will say this again, managing to make a 20 minute sitcom and having each episode be just an hour of the big wedding day is smart. The writers pull it off and with the help of the creator, makes this show come alive.

Shai: Now I think because other shows are on repeats, this show isn't bringing in the ratings. But other then that, I love the show. I think the writers are doing a great job, and are playing out the characters the best way they can. Now I remember weddings, and believe me its hectic. And this one manages to get every problem in the world and mush it into each episode. The 4th episode, with Lorna & the butterflies is hilarious too, I forgot to mention that.

Sal: Basically the show is good. At first I was a bit sceptic, but as I watch the show I love it more. Ok it doesn't have mystery plotlines like other shows, but the way the show is carried is excellent. The effects, the characters, and the basic storyline is what attracts most people to it. Now I still love Jane (the mother), but Lorna (the wedding planner) has become my favourite. Many people I know who watch the series are praising the actress, because she does do an amazing job.

Shai: So I guess that is all for now. Lets see, final thoughts. I hope ABC does do something to bring this show to life more. Promotion? Not sure what the future of it will be, but like many other shows I hope it survives. So thats it for the review. Tune in for the next few days, because we will be posting the latest reviews for the Mid-Season Finales for "The O.C.", "King Of Queens" & "Til Death". Oh and a DOUBLE Review for "Justice" seeing as it will air their final 12th episode this week. Thank you for reading!

Take Care
