TV Hot Spot: Men In Trees
Men In Trees Episode 10: New York Fiction Part 1
Review by: Shai & Sal
Shai: Hey readers! I am going to start off this review, instead of the usual Sal (He can be annoying at times). So anyway, let me just say that ever since the series started I have been a die hard fan. Fell in love with it from Day 1 and am continuing to support it. Sal actually stopped watching it during the middle and I convinced him to continue, which he did and I am sure now that he finally regrets his decision of turning it down. So like Sal, I am going to start off with the ratings. And to our surprise, Men In Trees' first night on Thursdays scores a hit for the show. This episode ranked in around 12 Million Viewers, which is far more than what previous episodes have seen (8 Million). This huge jump is probably due to the fact that it is now put after Grey's Anatomy, which is a very wise choice for ABC to do. So without further delay, I will pass you on to Sal with the review...
Sal: Thanks Shai. Ok so we start off the episode with Marin back in New York. I shared her happiness when she walked in and began trying out all her shoes. It was like she was back in civilization and it was great for her. I liked this episode mainly because of the metaphor the writers decided to use. The lost 'dove' who was outside Marin's window represented Marin's current feelings...
Shai: Oh god! Get a map lady! I didnt get the whole Dove thing and thought it was lame. At first, they show Marin being all happy that she is back in New York, like Sal said. But then I think the things which happened during her stay was what made her finally decide to head back to Elmo. The shower breaking...Her landlord being rude to her...the people of New York in general looking down at her...And throughout the episode you see Marin trying to fit in, but she had obvisouly changed and fitting in wasnt going to happen at all. I liked how the writers put that in, it was good because it made her finally realise who she was at that time and to head back to Elmo. (I swear if the writers decided to put her in New York for another episode I would have killed them!)
Sal: Marin's presence in Elmo was even missed. We see the characters in Elmo actually talking about her and commenting on how it was so much quieter since Marin left. Obviously she fit there and was wanted back, but Jack...didnt accept it. Not until he read the letter! Yes, he FINALLY read the letter...
Shai: When I saw it, I thought "Well its ABOUT time!" (lol). But one thing I wasnt sure of, was...did Marin recieve that message Jack left on her cell or not? After Jack left that message and confessed he had fallen in love with her, Marin used her cellphone. So she must have heard the message. I dont know, I think the writers maybe forgot that little thing and didnt show it to us. Or maybe Marin actually didnt hear the message after all. But I think that it was about time Jack finally realised and admitted his true feelings for her!
Sal: Yes, you notice I am keeping my posts short. Shai is the "Men In Trees" lover (lol). The Annie & Patrick dilemma. The writers give us an inside look and actually give the couple their first fight (I think). Throughout the thanksgiving dinner, we saw that Annie felt akward. God, even I FELT akward! But then again, Patrick was so excited to be with his new family I think it was just too much to handle at one time. Being with the new loved ones, and keeping everything going according to plan can kinda get very stressful. I hope things would get better next episode.
Shai: Ok, now for Ben and Theresa! I think Ben is just...too nice. And that he cant make up his mind. One minute he is with Sara, and then she decides to leave him and now he is hooking up with Theresa again. Didnt Theresa overhear Ben say that he didnt want to leave her alone on Thanksgiving? So maybe that was the thing that made her realise that she might still be in love with him. Even though I am still not sure about this relationship, I guess I have to see until next episode to really judge it..
Sal: Yup yup. So I think we can round it up. And I am going to give this honour to Shai. And the final storyline which was brought in was the return of LYNN!
Shai: Oh yes! Well, every series needs its drama right? And this was just a way for "Men In Trees" to get even more interesting. Although I would have preferred if they kept this little surprise for the next episode which is the mid-season finale. But other than that I am good!
Sal & Shai: Ok! So that was the review for now. Congrats to Shai for nearly taking over her first review alone (lol). And we are currently in talks of giving her, her own reviews (for Prison Break and maybe more?) So until next time, Thanks for reading. Comments will be appreciated!
Take Care
