TV Hot Spot: Traveler
Traveler Episode 1: Pilot
Review by: Sal
Heya guys. Sal here. My first comment on the Pilot, Well Done. Both to the writers and the cast of this show. Before I had even begun to watch the series, I had a feeling that it would bore me and that I would have to force myself to watch the whole 44 minutes of it. And as usual, I thought wrong. Now I cannot wait for the next episode to come out! So, lets run through the information we already have. As seen in our "Preview" special, a date hasnt been set for this series to finally premiere BUT buzz is going around that it might be sometime in March. I hope the network could at least give it a decent lead in so that it could really bring in the viewers. This series is unlike any other out there at the moment, but the suspense could be matched to other series such as "Lost" & "Jericho". From the first minute, to the last, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next. So enough about my feelings on the series as a whole, I shall now begin with the review of the Pilot...
We start off by seeing Jay & Tyler, two college buddies running into their hotel room. Panic is written all over their faces. Tyler switches on the TV, and we see that they are both wanted by the police. We then go into flashbacks, and we get to see another character, Will. The writers have done this well and that is made me feel like they were actual buddies. You can imagine three guys like them getting along. Some series have cast problems, and sometimes when they mix it looks all wrong. But not here...
As we head into the Pilot, we see that Will is somehow acting a bit strange. And a simple prank in the museum turns into something that will change all of their lives forever. A simple phone call to Jay, from Will saying he was sorry, before the museum blew up. Now, notice how the writers take this and up the level as the episode goes on. First we see Jay & Tyler panicking, but then they realise that they could just call the police. To be fair, they are innocent.
Then as the episode continues, we get to see this incident unravel. As more and more people are involved and a much bigger picture is drawn. We are left with various questions. Is Will really dead? Are Tyler & Jay going to run? And for how long? Tyler's father, who apparently is one of the richest men in America, has something behind his sleeve, as we can see in the last few minutes of the episode. The creator & writers of this show have planned this episode so that as the minutes go by, step by step, this incident escelates more, giving the viewer more suspense.
Something I noticed though, that guy who works at the hotel and then mysteriously freed Tyler & Jay from the FBI. I knew there was something off about him, and I am sure he knows more than he is letting on. Of course, Jay & Tyler are in a state of panic and don't have time to ask questions, but I can see this series taking a definite stand on the network and building up viewers. The cast, like I said, is great! And I hope it gets the recognition it deserves! Thanks for reading, feel free to leave your comments!
Take Care
