TV Hot Spot: King Of Queens

King Of Queens 9x06: Brace Yourself

Review by: Sal & Nas

Sal: Hey readers. I am here again with Nas and we are giving a review for the latest episode of this CBS series, "King Of Queens". Going on its 9th season and still staying strong the series has a solid fan-base which week by week follow its every episode and get a night full of laughs just because of it. I haven't seen a series that had stayed this long and is solely based about a relationship between a husband and a wife. This weeks episode managed to pull in about 8.5 Million Viewers in total, this is up a bit from the last episode and still is a good sign for the series.

Nas: It is a good sign, because we are already 6 episodes into the 9th season and we still didn't get word if this was the last season or not so I wouldn't be surprised if CBS renews it for one more season. The numbers are solid and manages to pull in a good audience. Most comedy shows nowadays manage to pull in JUST about 7 million, and then fall to around 5 million in their next episode. But not this series, being on TV for many years has helped the series in such a way that it is already considered a hit to be on for so long.

Sal: I have always liked this series, and to think that two characters like Doug and Carrie have that effect on people is amazing. This episode stars a usual storyline that comes between a wife and her husband. All because of Deacon's son, the house goes mad and everyone seems to want a makeover. Over something that probably doesn't matter to most people the writers show how that can easily change and instead effect many others. In this episode Deacon's son draws Arthur with hideous teeth, this causes Arthur to want to get braces and the story continues from there...

Nas: Oh by the way I forgot to say hello to you Sal, oh well I guess its late now (lol). Back to the review, I think that the writers are so smart that they could take any situation and basically fit it into a good episode. One thing I wanted to comment on was the thumbs up to the writers, for including the virtual dog game on Nintendo DS. Alot of kids are going crazy for that game all over the world and as soon as I saw that I knew they were reaching for the audience and that they knew what was going on in the outside world. It was cool to see Doug playing it too, that cracked me up!

Sal: Oh yah, that was a good scene (lol). Oh and another thing I noticed was a few errors that I dont expect was seen in the editing room. In one of the scenes, Arthur is sitting at the table with Doug & Carrie, he then lifts his hands to gesture something and you can actually see lines written in the palm of his hand. Most probably lines from the script because I know alot of actors do that sometimes. Another little thing I noticed was the scene where Doug & Carrie are in their bedroom. You can actually see the microphone coming down from on top of them which is hilarious. It happens in alot of series, but when you notice it you snap back into reality (lol)

Nas: I didn't notice those things, but I guess I will now if I take a look (lol). In this series we also get to see Spencer, Danny, Deacon & Kelly have their own private storyline. Now I like this because the writers are showing us that other things are taking place and that it isnt just Doug & Carrie. I remembered Sal that in one of your reviews you stated that there was no need for Doug's friends, and I disagree. I think that these extra characters add a bit of spice to the series and keeps us viewers from having to watch Doug & Carrie the whole time during the whole episode.

Sal: Ok so I guess we can round this up now. I enjoyed the episode as usual and I know you did too Nas. We both agreed upon the fact that the writers are doing a great job with a series, and that being a successful comedy series is very hard to accomplish especially in this time. Many have failed, and a few have succeeded, and I know for a fact that this series is one of them who did NOT fail. So thank you all for reading and hopefully more reviews, promos, news & ratings will be coming your way soon!

Take Care
