Lupo and Cyrus discover Munsen was involved in an online relationship that Greenwood had sabotaged. Munsen profited over $60,000 dollars of stolen money, and laundered the money to his young, online lover, "Jenny Cheponis." The case takes some strange twists and turns, as "Jenny" turns out to be an older woman, Donna Cheponis (guest star Melissa Leo), with a missing daughter. Greenwood exposed the online relationship between Munsen and Cheponis and ended up dead, but "Jenny" remains missing. The detectives struggle to solve the case of murder and deceit in this online murder mystery case. Also Starring: Sam Waterston, S. Epatha Merkerson, Linus Roache, and Alana De La Garza.

A novelist is found dead in her car, which appears to be a suicide at first inspection, but Detectives Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) have reason to believe a cult known as “Systemotics” is involved. The victim’s husband, Bradley Cameron (guest star Daniel London) explains to the detectives that he and his wife were paranoid that members of the cult had been trailing them recently. However, Bradley comes under suspicion as the detectives begin to chip away at his alibi. When the case goes to trial, ADA Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) has trouble prosecuting his case when several members of the jury fear for their own safety. Sam Waterston, Epatha Merkerson, and Alana De La Garza also star.

The detectives are led to notorious hustler, “"Bunny” (guest star Bobby Jones), a familiar face from Detective Green’s past. When "“Bunny” is found dead, Detective Lupo is called to the scene and discovers his partner, Detective Green, is the shooter causing confusion in the department and disbelief in the DA's office. The case is turned over to internal affairs Detective Kevin Bernard (Anthony Anderson) and Sergeant Gregory Cole (guest star Peter Bradbury), leaving Detective Green to face his dark past and in danger of losing his badge. Sam Waterston, S. Epatha Merkerson, Linus Roache and Alana De La Garza also star.

NBC Makes Big Plans for '08-'09!

NEW YORK -- "Friday Night Lights" is coming back, "The Office" is spinning off and NBC is going to try to have mostly original programming all year round.

Those are some of the highlights from what NBC is calling its "in front" (rather than upfront) schedule announcement for 2008-09 on Wednesday. And what it may have lacked in the glitz and star power of a typical upfront presentation, it made up for in sheer volume of information.

The network announced its schedule -- several different ones, in fact -- for the coming season, with four new series (dramas "Knight Rider," "Crusoe" and "My Own Worst Enemy" and comedy "Kath & Kim") set to go for the fall and another four, including a top-secret spinoff of "The Office," for the winter and spring of 2009.

Additionally, critical darling "Friday Night Lights" is coming back for a third season thanks to a partnership with satellite service DirecTV. Fellow bubble show "Lipstick Jungle" is also returning, while "Scrubs" will be free to go elsewhere (like ABC).

"These are shows I've been waiting my entire career to put on air," NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman said at a news conference at the network's headquarters in New York.

The fall schedule won't look that much different than the fall schedule NBC trotted out this year, with "Heroes" returning to anchor Mondays at 9, a comedy block leading into "ER" on Thursdays and "Sunday Night Football" closing out the week. Freshman series "Chuck," "Life" and "Lipstick Jungle" -- which Silverman said got a renewal based on its strength among young women and upscale viewers, even though overall ratings were mediocre -- will also be back.

"My Own Worst Enemy," which stars Christian Slater (in his first series role) in a Jekyll-and-Hyde story about a suburban father/high-level spy, will get the post-"Heroes" timeslot on Monday nights in the fall. "Kath & Kim," an adaptation of the Australian hit that stars Molly Shannon and Selma Blair, will be sandwiched between "The Biggest Loser" and "Law & Order: SVU" on Tuesdays. "Knight Rider" will air Wednesdays at 8, and the adventure "Crusoe," based on Daniel Defoe's classic novel, goes in the 8 p.m. Friday spot.

As it did last year, "The Office" will begin its season with a handful of hour-long episodes before being paired with a series of "Saturday Night Live" prime-time election specials in October.

Come January, "American Gladiators" and "Deal or No Deal" will spell "Chuck" and "Heroes" on Monday nights, allowing the latter two shows to return for longer runs of original episodes later in 2009. The Tom Fontana-Barry Levinson drama "The Philanthropist" will take the 10 p.m. Monday spot later in the season, while another pair of new dramas, "Merlin" and "Kings," will bookend the returning "Medium" on Sunday nights.

Also at midseason, "Friday Night Lights" will return to NBC (although it will air on DirecTV in the fall), and the "Office" spinoff will launch with a post-Super Bowl premiere. "Law & Order" will take over for "Lipstick Jungle" at 10 p.m. Wednesday nights.

NBC has even gone so far as to lay out its schedule for summer 2009, promising Canadian drama "The Listener," cooking competition "The Chopping Block" and a pair of shows from the producer of "Ice Road Truckers" for 14 months or so from now.

"Scrubs," meanwhile, will end its seven-season run on NBC in May. ABC is in serious talks to pick the show up for another season, however.

'Law and Order' Veteran Exits Show!

"Law & Order" veteran Jesse L. Martin is expected to leave the long-running NBC drama after nine years.

Anthony Anderson is in final negotiations to join the series, filling the void left by Martin's character, Det. Ed Green. Anderson will play a new detective partnered with Jeremy Sisto's Cyrus Lupo.

Martin will film one more episode of the Wolf Films/Univerasl Media Studios series, in which his character will be written off, sources said.

The actor had signed on to do the first 13 episodes this season, with an option for more.

Martin, who recently wrapped the feature "Peter and Vandy," next is set to portray singer Marvin Gaye in the biopic "Sexual Healing," which is expected to begin production in late April-early May.

"Law & Order" continues Anderson's streak of dramatic roles that includes parts on FX's "The Shield," in the Oscar-winning "The Departed" and, most recently, on Fox's gritty cop drama "K-Ville," for which he landed an Image Award nomination.

NOTE: Anthony Anderson once guest starred as a detective on SVU (about two seasons ago), so I wonder if he'll play the same character.

CBS Renews 11 Shows for 2008-2009!

Late Thursday (Feb. 14) afternoon, CBS gave Valentine's Day gift to freshman comedy "The Big Bang Theory," plus 10 other scripted hits.

The network announced that 11 of its most successful shows, including eight of the 20 top-rated scripted offerings on television, will be back for the 2008-09 season. Joining "The Big Bang Theory" on the pick-up front are "Cold Case," "Criminal Minds," all three shows in the "CSI" franchise, "Ghost Whisperer," "NCIS," "Numb3rs," "Two and a Half Men" and "Without a Trace."

The network had previously ordered another installment of "The Amazing Race," plus two more seasons of "Survivor."

None of those renewals is particularly surprising, as most of the shows represent the foundation of CBS' long run as TV's most-watched network.

CBS also announced on Thursday that even if other networks are feeling doubts about how to handle the upfronts season this year, The Eye will hold a presentation for advertisers on Wednesday, May 14 at Carnegie Hall. The may turn out to be Judgment Day for fans of a number of currently unrenewed shows.

Among the shows that remain in limbo are beloved Monday comedy "How I Met Your Mother," slightly less beloved Monday comedy "Rules of Attraction," the James Wood drama "Shark" "The Unit" and cult vampire favorite "Moonlight." All of those shows are being brought back into production and will return in March and April for new episodes likely to determine their eventual fate. Presumably the network's schedule will still have room for several of those shows.

Also on uncertain footing is "Jericho," which was brought back from the dead after a fan campaign, but delivered middling returns in its Tuesday return. "Jericho" has finished shooting its mini-season, but six episodes have yet to air.

NBC Announces Return Dates!

NBC will resume the broadcast of many of its scripted series in April with new original episodes following the settlement of the Writers Guild of America strike, including "The Office," "30 Rock," "My Name Is Earl," "Law & Order," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," among other programs, it was announced by Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios, and Marc Graboff, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

The list of comedies and dramas includes: "My Name Is Earl" (Thursdays, 8-8:30 p.m. ET), which will return with a one-hour episode on Thursday, April 3; the Emmy Award-winning "30 Rock" (Thursdays, 8:30-9 p.m. ET) will begin on Thursday, April 10; likewise, the Emmy-winning "The Office" (Thursdays, 9-9:30 p.m. ET) also resumes with new episodes on Thursday, April 10; and "Scrubs" (Thursdays, 9:30-10 p.m. ET) will come back with original episodes beginning Thursday, April 10.

"ER" (Thursdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) also will come back on Thursday, April 10 with new episodes following the complete run of "Lipstick Jungle," which concludes on March 20.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (Tuesdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) will return with fresh episodes on Tuesday, April 15. "Law & Order" (Wednesdays, 10-11 p.m. ET) resumes with original episodes on Wednesday, April 23. Meanwhile, "Medium" (Mondays, 10-11 p.m. ET) continues in originals.

Specific plans for other NBC scripted series are currently being determined and will be announced later.

"Law & Order" Resumes with Two-hour Season Premiere on Wednesday, January 2 and Will Be Joined by "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" One Week Later on January 9

BURBANK - December 3, 2007 - NBC will lawyer-up on Wednesday nights as the Emmy Award-winning "Law & Order" resumes with a two-hour season premiere event on Wednesday, January 2 (9-11 p.m. ET), and will continue on Wednesdays starting January 9 (10-11 p.m. ET) preceded by this season's network broadcast premiere of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (9-10 p.m. ET) in its return to NBC that night.

Joining the "Law & Order" cast for the show's 18th season are Jeremy Sisto as Detective Cyrus Lupo and Linus Roache as Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter. Cutter reports to Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston) who has been promoted to District Attorney, replacing Arthur Branch (Fred Thompson).

"The last time Rene Balcer was showrunner of 'Law & Order' we won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. I am thrilled he is back," said Dick Wolf, creator and executive producer of "Law & Order." "Jeremy and Linus bring a new energy to the cast and we hope the return to our longtime timeslot of Wednesday at 10 will bring renewed success to the show, not just from our core fans, but from a new generation of viewers as well."

Last season, "Law & Order" averaged a 2.7 rating, 8 share in adults 18-49 and 9.0 million viewers overall. "Law & Order" improved the Friday 10 p.m. (ET) hour by 12 percent in adults 18-49 versus NBC's average for the prior season and delivered Friday's most upscale audience (in concentration of homes with $100,000-plus incomes in its adult 18-49 audience).

Last season, "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" delivered a 2.7 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 8.7 million viewers overall, averaging a 23 percent build on its adult 18-49 lead-in. This season, with original telecasts on USA Network, "Criminal Intent" has generated an average of 1.8 million 18-49 viewers, more than doubling USA's Thursday 10 p.m. results of a year earlier and leading USA to a 70 percent increase in its Thursday primetime average.

"Law & Order," the longest-running crime series and the second-longest-running drama series in the history of television, enters its 18th season on NBC. The brainchild of creator Dick Wolf, "Law & Order" is the most successful brand in primetime television. It is the 1997 Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Drama Series and the record holder for the most consecutive (11) nominations in that category for a primetime series (tied with "Cheers" and "M*A*S*H").

Detective Edward Green (Jesse L. Martin) and his new partner Detective Cyrus Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) investigate crimes and apprehend suspects under the supervision of their precinct lieutenant, Anita Van Buren (S. Epatha Merkerson). In the second half-hour, the focus shifts to the criminal courts, as Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Cutter (Linus Roache) and the Executive Assistant District Attorney Connie Rubirosa (Alana De La Garza) work within a complicated justice system to prosecute the accused under the guidance of the newly appointed District Attorney Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston). "Law & Order" is a Wolf Films production in association with Universal Media Studios. This season viewers can expect exciting new guest star appearances, including Patrick Stump (from musical group "Fall Out Boy"), Lara Flynn Boyle ("The Practice"), and January Jones ("Mad Men").

In "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," Detective Mike Logan (Chris Noth) and his partner, Detective Wheeler (Alicia Witt), make up the Major Case Squad alongside long-time partners Detectives Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Alexandra Eames (Kathryn Erbe). The two Major Case Squad detective teams split the caseloads week to week. The series takes viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes. D'Onofrio ("Men in Black") stars as Detective Goren, an exceptionally bright homicide investigator with well-honed instincts that match up favorably with his criminal quarry. Likewise, his partner, Detective Eames (Erbe, "Oz"), brings an independence and stylish edge to her work that meshes well with Goren.

Alicia Witt ("Vanilla Sky") joins the cast for the first six episodes as Logan's detective partner while Nicholson is on maternity leave.

Eric Bogosian also plays Captain Ross who was rewarded with the Major Case Squad after heading a successful three-year Joint Task Force on International Money Laundering.
