The first new "House" episode of 2007 powered FOX to a ratings win Tuesday, beating out NBC and CBS.

NBC was actually first in households for the night with an 8.2 rating/13 share, but FOX, 8.0/12, had the most total viewers, 13.44 million to 11.97 million for NBC. CBS was a solid third at 7.7/12. ABC came in fourth at 4.6/7, and The CW trailed with a 1.4/2.

FOX scored a convincing win among adults 18-49, where it drew a 5.5 rating. NBC finished second in the demographic at 3.8. CBS, 3.3, was third, followed by ABC, 2.1, and The CW, 0.8.

A repeat of "NCIS," 8.0/12, won the 8 p.m. hour for CBS. "Dateline," 6.7/10, put NBC in second, in front of a "House" rerun on FOX, 5.6/9. ABC took fourth with "America's Funniest Home Videos." A rerun of "Gilmore Girls" on The CW earned a 1.8/3.

FOX moved into the lead at 9 p.m. with a fresh "House," the night's most-watched show at 10.4/16. The People's Choice Awards on CBS earned an 8.2/12, tying for second with NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (CBS had more viewers). Two episodes of "Big Day" averaged 3.0/4 for ABC. The CW's "Veronica Mars" rerun trailed.

At 10 p.m., "Law & Order: SVU" led the way with a 9.8/16 for NBC. The People's Choice Awards slipped to 6.9/11 on CBS, and ABC's "Boston Legal" came in at 6.0/10.
