NBC Stays on 'Biggest Loser' Diet!

NBC is putting its weight behind another season of "The Biggest Loser."
The weight-loss show, which has enjoyed relatively solid ratings in its latest incarnation, has earned a sixth season, which will likely premiere in the fall. As with this season, the new edition will feature two-person teams trying to shed pounds together.
"'The Biggest Loser' has become a year-round success story for NBC," executive producer Mark Koops says. "We're excited to continue making great primetime TV while inspiring and motivating millions of Americans to live healthier lives."
A contestant search will kick off later this week in what NBC says are "America's fattest cities" -- including Boston, Dallas, Nashville, Oklahoma City and Columbus, Ohio.
The current season of "The Biggest Loser" is averaging 9.3 million viewers per week and a 3.9 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic. The series has also done reasonably well opposite FOX's "American Idol," improving NBC's 18-49 performance by 40 percent against "Idol" compared to last season (when it primarily used "Dateline" as a sacrificial lamb).
Allison Sweeney is set to return as host of the show.
Take Care,
Sal
