TV Hot Spot: STRIKE!
Eva Longoria SPEAKS OUT!
Post by: Sal
"Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria was picketed by Julia Louis Dreyfus and the writers on strike who disrupted the filming of "Desperate Housewives" for doing her job. Check out the pics of Eva bringing the writers pizzas on Tuesday afternoon along with a video of her emotional interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Longoria tried to make good with the writers bringing them pizzas and saying she had to honor her union (SAG) and do her job, but after the production shuts down on Wednesday she would join Marc Cherry in the picket lines.
Earlier this year, Marc Cherry signed an 8-figure 4-year deal with ABC Studios (the undisclosed value of the contract is estimated at 15+ million USD) and said to Variety:
"The studio and the network and I all feel it's best for me to stay glued to the set. I've got my ship, and I'm gonna run it."
After pulling in a series-high of 30 million viewers for the 1st season finale in May 2005, "Desperate Housewives" has gone down in the ratings to about 16-18 million in early 2007.
Recently, the show 4th season generated quite a bit of hype with the addition of Dana Delany and rose to a season average of 19 million viewers. Those accomplishments may be lost if the show is off the air for 9 months.
Take Care,
Sal
