Favorable 'Verdict' for Madchen Amick
Post by: Sal
Actress Madchen Amick is quickly putting "Viva Laughlin" behind her, having moved on to a drama pilot at Lifetime.
The former "Twin Peaks" star has taken one of the lead roles in "The Verdict," a pilot presentation in the works at the cable network. Robin Givens and Emma Lung have also been cast in the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The pilot centers on a media-circus murder trial involving a pop star accused of hiring someone to kill her lover. Amick will play the the newly married assistant district attorney who's assigned to the case, her first high-profile prosecution. Givens will play the defendant, a wealthy model and singer, and Lung will play a reporter covering the trial.
Jon Maas ("The Last Debate") wrote script for "The Verdict" -- not to be confused with the 1982 Sidney Lumet movie -- and Mark Piznarski ("Gossip Girl," "Veronica Mars") will direct. Maas is also executive producing with Jonathan Prince ("Cane") and Howard Klein. Production is scheduled to start in Philadelphia later in November.
Amick co-starred in CBS' quickly cancelled "Viva Laughlin" this season. Her recent credits also include "Kidnapped," "Freddie" and a recurring role on "ER."
Givens starred in "Hollywood Wives: The New Generations" a few seasons back and in the 2005 Lifetime movie "Captive Hearts." Australian actress Lung guested on "Entourage" this year.
Take Care,
Sal
